The OP of this thread asked for opinions about tattoos good or bad, so I gave mine. I have a strong opinion about them. Deal with it

If you take the trouble to re-read my post you will find that I asked about Experiences-Not Opinions -you therefore are out of order and have upset a lot of very nice people.

If you wish to launch a thread asking what are peoples Opinions of tatoos you are perfectly free to do so

the bottom line is tattoos are a matter of personal preference. You should never judge someone for the simple fact that they are tattooed.

Perhaps people should not judge but bottom line is many do. Getting something permanent like a tattoo makes no sense at all. It is like branding yourself like cattle. You could equate getting a tattoo to chopping off your little finger; there's no putting it back.

What has not been discussed in this thread is the religious significance of the Thai tattoos.

My father-in-law is covered with Buddhist imagery tattooed on his body. He is very religious and considers his body akin to a temple.

He always removes his shirt at the slightest opportunity in order to display these symbols and receive the good karma created as a result.

My wife also has a huge multi coloured dragon n her back which she believes has kept her from the worst evils of this life.

actually they can be removed, its a slow and painful process, but something you should keep in mind whenever you get one. I would never want to have mine removed, there's no reason, I am not embarrased by them and my wife loves them. I have no problem with her one tiny tattoo she got after we were married of my name over her heart. :o

Didn't the OP say this thread was not for that?

I mentioned religious tattoos. There is another thread about this - do a search.

Sir, at first I was offended by your "opinion" but as a tattoed sailor I guess you are half right but as for the intelligence part of it you're way off coure. I have attended 4 years of college and am currently an officer with the merchant marines. I am highly trained in electronics, machining and operating any engine plant on any vessel the sea has to offer. I also lost my little finger in a mishap so in reality, I guess I step into one of your other little twisted analogys.

for those interested in the book i was talking about; both isbn numbers didnt google well, so will sit with friend and translate address of publisher name etc

just high season at work now so dead by time i get home in pm....

perhaps you could go to a large book store and ask using both isbn numbers and see if they can locate (i'm talking about thai book stores, this book i bought in the bigc in a book store that was huge in udon thani... if that helps

difinately worth it for anyone that does any kind of art design although i would expect that any good thai tattooist would probably have most of these designs ; maybe ask for mythological animals from the ramakayien (sp?) , maybe these fall in the category of the 'religious' tattoos although the thai here assurred my daughter , who did ask, that it is not a problem

The OP did indeed say that
