Changing 60-day Tourist Visa To Non-immigrant Inside Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am in Thailand on a 60-day holiday visa and have heard that it is possible to change it to a non-immigrant visa from within Thailand by filling out a 'request to change visa' form.

Do you guys know whether this would be possible from any immigration office, or would it be necessary to head to Bangkok to get it done? Also, where can I find an example of the form and the required documents? (I have found a school which wishes to employ me).

Many thanks!

JJ

It is possible, but you might need to go to bangkok to do it and return after 1 week if they aprove the conversion. Many immigration offices won't do it any more.

All papperwork would have to be in order and you need to apply for the work permit first.

Depending on where you stay it might be better to go abroad and get a non-B visa, but again do apply for the work permit first.

Thanks! I'll head to Rayong's immigration office to check it out. I have read on a few sites that you need a copy of your non-B to get a work permit though - do you know if this has changed?

You can apply for a work permit without having a visa, but you will need to show the labour office your Non-B visa to collect your WP. On submitting application papers for WP, the labour office will issue Form WP3 receipt (showing that WP has been applied for) that you would need to show to consulate if obtaining Non-B visa in the region.
