Capitalist To Invest For Casino

Featured Replies

A group of businessmen are pushing for the legalization of casinos on Samui. A local oil capitalist is willing to invest up to THB2 billion to build gambling facilities on the island should the government legalize casinos.

Dr. Surachai Jitphadeebodin, president of the Provincial Chamber of Commerce, said casinos could boost the island’s tourism and generate much income for the government, as they do in Hong Kong and Macau.

There are NO casinos in Hongkong and gambling was never considered as any form of commerce.

A rumour, a couple of years ao, was that Thaksin had bought a whole lot of land on Samui to build a casino which he would legalize.

Never was built and I don't think Casinos will ever be legalized here!

:DSurachai said Samui cannot rely on natural attractions forever. Some tourists will tire of them sooner or later and the government should do well by thinking of creative ways to draw more tourists to the island as early as now.

and:

With natural attractions and casinos as tourist draws, Samui could become the most attractive tourist destination in Asia,” he said. wow!

and, from the same article:

Dr.Tammanoon said people should be on the lookout for these breeding places in their backyards and gardens. These things should be emptied of water, or thrown away, to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. :)

Interesting...So far gambling and Thailand have been like water and oil. I am excited to witness a new era ;-)

To give tourism a boost? A casino comes with mafia, money laundry etc etc... Samui has already lost its virginity a long time ago, but I think with a casino it will go promiscuous. And yeah, this will attract a certain group of people.

All this for money...

Tell me, am I thinking too negative...?
