I'll be buying a car within the next 2 or 3 weeks. My first here in Thailand.

Do I go to my insurance agent ahead of time? And how does that work?

Also, will dealers usually deliver the car to your home address?

If buying a new car many times the insurance is included for free. Be sure to confirm it is Number One insurance, this means full coverage. The dealer will look after getting you set up with insurance even if it is not included in the price, very painless experience.

The dealer will most likely deliver it for you, but if you have a Thai partner be prepared to wait for the date/time the monk tells them you must take delivery......sometimes this may be a month after you have paid for the car :)

Insurance is often includd in the purchsae price. Check what it covers, if its a reputable company willing to pay repairs in garage of your choice and have a credit for repair bills there. Most dont.

I pay about the same for my 2007 520d with Thai Vivat. Haven't managed to get to NCB state yet..but this year on course! I recently had a 'not my fault' and didn't get the blame!! they were very quick to arrive. I took the car to a BMW garage the same day and the vivat guy gave me a piece of paper to get a hire car. Can't fault them. No experience with QBE but it looks a big company
