Hey

Does anyone know if the report of residence can still made at Suanplu or if their offiice has been moved to the new place?

Posted

All immigration affairs are now at Chaengwattana. Not sure what you question relates to - is it 90 day reporting?

A good question. The 90 day report can also be done at the one stop service center, now at:

One Stop Service Centre,

Chamchuri Square,

18th Floor,

319 Payathai Rd,

Pathumwan,

Bangkok 10330

(you have to live in BKK to use them)

But if you really wan to report your residence, you either go to the local police station or go to immigration.

Ooops sorry about that: I meant reporting, within 24 hours, that an 'alien' is staying at my place but, now, I clearly remember that the last time I went to register someone at Suanplu they were packing things up, 'Room 101 I think, and not related to the 90 day report

Mario, are you saying that I, as the owner of a private place, do not need to go all the way to Chaeng Wattana and instead go to the Police station?

From the Immigration Act:

Section 37 : An alien having received a temporary entry permit into the Kingdom must comply with thefollowing :

3. Shall notify the police official of the local police station where such alien resides, within twenty – four hours from the time of arrival. In the case of change in residence in which new residence is not located the same area with the former police stations , such alien must notify the police official of the police station for that area within twenty – four hours from the time of arrival.

Correct, but they will have never heard of it in all likelyhood and sure won't have the form, which you can print out from the immigration website. They might just send you to immigration.

I will try and will keep you posted (I hope my request will not be declined as only the signature of an "immigration" officer is required)

Thanks again

Yes, Bangkok residents can use the Board of Investment (BOI) one stop centre at Chamchuri Square for 90 day reporting. The office was previously located at Rasa Tower, Phahonyothin Road but moved to Chamchuri Square on 4th January 2010.

BOI location information/map here.

Hey Thaiphoon

After a second reading I just happened to notice that this article was talking about the alien and not the owner of the place where such a person resides.

Should I understand that both, the alien and the Housemaster have to make sucj a report (although I have never heard of anyone doing so upon arrival)?

Sorry to add more confusion

One immigration office (Hat Yai? Hua Hin?) made a fuss about this report by the “house master” for a while last year, and I remember one member posting that when he applied for an extension of stay – don’t remember at what immigration office – the house owner, his wife, was fined 2,000 Baht for not having reported his arrival at her house. Otherwise, immigration offices don’t seem to go after the owners of private residences who fail to report the arrival of a foreigner.

Both reports are required by law but in practice alien normally does not report but hotel/landloard needs to report to Immigration. If a private home and Thai expect most do not. Hotels do. If your a foreign owner and have an alien resident I would make the report. And you do that to Immigration. If he wants to report he would do to local police and most likely they would not have a clue as the don't really expect it.

quick question, just going through the tm47 form and want to confirm information for arrival card number on the form.

Is it the same number as on the departure card? If not, where is it?

thanks.

Hey

Quick follow up

I did go, this morning, to report the person staying at my place, as required by law

I went to the local police station (Thummahamek) and presented the police officer, at the reception, with the filled form

As expected he did not know about it and said "Immigration", to what I answered that I could report at either places.

He read again, then asked me to go to the office next door, where the form was read again by another officer, who stood up to enquire about what to do, and if there was a fee.

The answer was "just fill it and sign it, there is no fee"

The officer did so and handed me back the form: I teared up the signed stub and gave him back the rest.

I asked him if there would be a seal of any kind. Upon a negative answer, I thanked him and left with the paper in hands

Well I am quite happy about it, although I am not sure what they are going to do with the report, but I guess the matter, on my side, has been dealt with.

It is also a good thing that today was Sunday as I could have argued that the immigration's office was closed and I had only 24 hours to report, but I did not have to.

Thanks for everyone's advice

Well done, you have your slip to proof you reported. I wonder too what they will do with the report.

He left it on his desk ...
