Going Vientiane, Need Recommendations On Motorbike Taxi Driver

Hi, I am going Vientiane in few days' time, have injured my leg and require a motor taxi to bring me around from the border into Laos, and around Vientiane for sight seeing, I need to hire a motorbike taxi driver for a day or 2, can someone recommend a honest motorbike taxi driver at the border of vientiane? Thanks!

They don't have motorbike taxis in Vientiane. You'll need to get a tuk-tuk driver, which will also be a lot easier for you.

The normal and most comfortable way to get into Vientiane from the border is by shared taxi. These guys are hanging out in the area just outside the passport control area.

I don't think there's a huge difference in who you get. They stick together and charge about the same. Just try one out and if he doesn't suit you, find another one.

Thanks tropo, as this is my first trip, so once I got into Vientiane, are there motorbike for rent, or tour guide to move around? I would like to go chinatown and around, what is the best way?

I was there last week and hired a taxi - every trip was 50000 kip... think thats about 200 baht... that was from the centre of town to the consulate and he waited till i was in there etc..

the crappy tuk tuks wanted 30000 kip to do the same trip... no contest for me... and if you have hurt your leg you want to be comfortable...

paid the extra for aircon and no hassles... everyday we organised a meeting point and time for the next trip and he always turned up on time...

when you are in the guest house/hotel ask them to call a taxi and just use the same one...

Vientiane is small small small..with nothing to do...i had 6 massages in 2 days!

If you like to have it more comfortable rent a mini-van after the border. This will cost you for 24 houres from 900-1400 Bath (depence how far you like to travel) .

I usually call a guy his name is Mr. Phimon (laos) he's a taxi driver at Laos border his Tel No. (009 856 20) 562 6311 for charge i usually paid to him 600 Bht. for return from Laos border-hotel-thai embassy (he will waiting for you until you drop you application then drive you to a hotel) for the day after he will picked up from hotel-thai emb.-border his car is pretty nice (nicer than the other) and he's really good guy can trust but if you are interested to him please call in advance he has such so many customer (me and my husband with him like a year or more so we can trust him) also for a hotel we usually stay at Bussarakam (750.- Bht. per night incl. ABF) not far from Thai embassy also a hotel call Kam-Koon (900 Bht. per night incl. ABF) they are next to each other anyway , from Nong-khai to a border i don't think it difficult for you to find a tuk tuk from there it's around 30 Bht. hope this's help.
