UK Asylum Appeals Surge Leaves Thousands of Migrants in Hotels for Years
I can only answer that by differentiating between the type of 'boat person'. Imo illegal economic migrants should be returned to their country of origin and should not be kept in the UK at the taxpayer's expense. On the other hand, refugees - those seeking asylum e.g. those fleeing from persécution, war, etc - should be given a safe haven in the UK and the opportunity to build a life here. The UK has a long tradition of giving sanctuary to the persecuted and imo it is something to be proud of. I'm not so sure. Until now, each generation has been better off based on almost any criterion than the previous one. It's anecdotal but our flat growing up was better than my parents'; my access to education and health services was better than theirs; my job opportunities were better than theirs, etc. Why was that? A combination of factors of course: Parental encouragement, my ability, luck, etc. However, the point that I am labouring to make is that I doubt that any of that would have been possible if successive governments had 'betrayed' the working class. Wrt council house sales. Like you, I benefitted personally from it as I inherited my parents ex-council house flat. However, overall I think that the policy did more harm than good. A link to an interesting, non-partisan article from an estate agent about council housing and the 'Right-to-buy' policy is below https://nexaproperties.com/huge-drop-in-council-houses-in-the-last-40-years/ -

What makes you certifiably gay?
I never mentioned them you did. Must be on your mind. The fact you dodge questions about women says it all. -

According to my pulse oximeter, I should be dead :) Buy an oxygen concentrator?
Thanks for all your comments. I have had pneumonia on many occasions over the past 25 years, including a week in Bumrungrad for a severe pneumonia infection (which probably did most of the bronchi damage). I know with my body what the first symptoms of pneumonia feel like and I'm happy to say that I've avoided pneumonia for the last 15 years or so. I am uptodate with my pneumonia (2 types) jabs, also Covid and flu. It's important for me to minimise any health risk 🙂 Probably my oximeter (which cost 200 baht on Lazada) is .. er what's the word? Oh yes krap!! I never feel faint or light-headed - the shortness of breath is due to the damn mucus blocking up my airways 🙂 BTW, my lungs themselves are fine - hence I can briskly walk 10km every day without getting short of breath, (even with chronic bronchitis I start short of breath but after 10km it hasn't got worse. Finally, I do various 'huff' breathing techniques that are recommended to loosen up sticky mucus, plus take some medications for the same purpose. Last evening, I had to abandon the 3rd of my hourly online science lessons 'cos I had a coughing fit. Tonight, I turned off the air-con and ran my steam humidifier for the 3 hours. It was like sitting in a Turkish sauna!! But my lungs were much happier and no coughing 🙂 -

Norwegian tourist, 21, is barred from entering the US after ICE guards find JD Vance Meme
Who is going to make us? Your country exists because we are nice. Would you let a person in who happily posted pics of Homosexuals getting tossed off roofs in Muslim countries on his Social Media feed? How many folks enter the USA every day? How many are excluded? Much ado about nothing from the usual bunch of folks suffering from Trump derangement. -
