Hi Guys and Gals

This has probably been here a million times before, but I don't really have the time to check through ...

Anyway .. anyone have any suggestions on how to stop cats from crapping all over my property? They cause a general nuisance, crapping everywhere, kicking up dirt all over the place, ripping up plants, noise etc.

I got a 16 month old boy and it ain't right other peoples cats s**ting on my lawn so he can't play ..

Please any suggestions ...

If you tried to be funny, I'm lacking your sense of humor. If you meant that serious, please be advised that we are looking for a legal solution.

Try putting pepper spray on the areas where they always go .Adopting a soi dog would help to but then its a different kind of crap .Chicken wire just under the soil where your plants are will stop them from trying to dig in heir as well .

Dog will do it; my rotty keeps chasing them to have something to play with.

But they do have their own problems as already pointed out.

I have seen very few cats around Phuket and think that may be due to the dogs roaming around.

water power gun, chilli powder on the fence.

if they are stray cats you might catch them and move far away from you estate.

or maybe adopt you own cat, which will chase the others

I have actually cats myself and wonder a bit about the OP. What you describe is not typical cat behaviour. They would usually not crap just on the lawn, but rather in a hidden place under a bush. Also the soil should be a bit lose as they like to dig a hole and cover up their droppings which would not be that easy on the lawn.

Ripping out plants is also nothing a typical cat would do.

As for noise, are they tomcats not neutered? In that case, have a word with the owner. Once they are neutered their interest in fighting with the competition is gone and so is the noise.

Well, usually cats are very clean animals and prefer to use their "bathroom". We got 20 of them in our house and they do not s...t everywhere but stick to their places filled with cat sand.

Give them "their" own corner in your garden by just putting a pile of sand up for them. Should not take long and they recognize it to be the ideal spot to do their business. Why it's always gotta be like we or them when it comes to animals? Live with them and respect them as living beings and they will surely appreciate it. The same goes for all those street dogs hated and feared by so many. It does not take much to befriend them making the live of all involved much easier. :)

This is what i was thinking. Cats are rather private when going about their "business". The digging up everything in the way the OP describes is more dog behaviour, than cat. I recall telling my bf about this as he was convinced it was a cat leaving mess on his lawn (open, not covered). Only when he caught a small dog sneaking in under the fence and seeing it for himself did he really believe it. Cats just dont really go about tearing up gardens and making mess everywhere.

If you have a neighbour you dont like, go to to the healthfood shop or chemist get a sm all bottle of gripe water or baldrian drops sprinkle this on any ground away from your homes believe me all the cats will go there to crap, we use it in zoo,s to teach felines of all sizes to crap and pee where we want them to :D if you want a laugh sprinkle some in your neighbours window boxes especially if they are not on the ground floor :)

i put forks, fork side up, in my geranium boxes so once or twice the cats want to sit and they get forked... on the other hand, someimtes i just work around them; they are my neighbors persians and have specific sitting spots so just dont plant htere any more... for some things we just put metal cages over the plants, the cats dont really like sitting on the wiring...

cats dont really pull or dig stuff out of the ground, but will poo in gardens
