Foreigners Arrested in Brutal Scam Raids in Kampot
A sweeping crackdown on online scam syndicates in Kampot, Cambodia has led to the arrest of multiple foreign nationals on charges ranging from fraud to murder and torture, in what authorities are calling one of the most significant operations of its kind. Between 8 and 12 August 2025, joint forces under the Kampot Provincial Unified Command raided two major scam centres in Bokor City. The operation, coordinated by the Commission for Combating Online Scams, involved police, military, prosecutors, and forensic experts. It resulted in the detention of 14 suspected ringleaders and the rescue of over ten Korean nationals held captive by the criminal network. The first raid targeted Borey Villa Crown, where police seized over 300 mobile phones, dozens of computers and tablets used in fraudulent schemes. Three suspects were sent to court, with investigations ongoing to apprehend the alleged mastermind. The second case unfolded after authorities discovered the body of Chinese national Song Jinxin in a car near a scam compound on Bokor Mountain. Four suspects confessed to orchestrating the torture and murder, and were found with 35 mobile phones linked to online fraud. They remain in custody pending further legal action. On 9 August, Judge Chhun Chanseiha ordered the detention of five foreigners, including Burmese and Chinese nationals, for their roles in the murder and scam operations. Among them were online staff leaders and a shop owner allegedly tied to the network. Further arrests followed on 12 August, when Deputy Prosecutor Bung Huy detained five more suspects for human trafficking. The group, including Chinese nationals and one Cambodian, were accused of transporting victims for exploitation at a local gas station. The raids have exposed the brutal underbelly of Cambodia’s scam industry, which has increasingly drawn international scrutiny. Authorities say the crackdown is part of a broader effort to dismantle transnational criminal networks operating in the region. Yes, evicted by the 12 September. The problem for the Home Office / Government, is that they will need to find a totally different way of accommodating the illegals. This ruling will just open the floodgates for other Councils to follow suit. Politicians caused the mess by being spineless jellyfish. Starmer / Labour exacerbated the problem by cancelling Rwanda. The instant solution is to declare a National Emergency, under the National Security Act. I won't be betting my house that Starmer / Labour will have the spine to do it. -

Wise is not the be all and end all of fund transfers. I would suggest you cast your net a little wider and look to some of the alternatives available. Wise to my knowledge, is not necessarily always the cheapest, most convenient or fastest. Go mad, spread your wings, you never know, you just may get a nice surprise? -
