Visa Run To Kaw Thaung

Featured Replies

I have one of those pain-in-the-neck 1 year Non Imm type O visas issued in Thai Consulate in Kuala Lumpur whereabout have to leave the country every 3 months for stamp renewal. Will be driving down to Kaw Thung later this month.

Haven't been there for 2 years now, any changes over there?

My question is do they (Burmese) still ask visa to be paid in US Dollar notes (can't remember exactly how much) for entry, can it be paid in Baht, longtails still leaving Thai waters from same spot etc?

Any help will be appreciated.

....ooops, wrong forum....mods please move it to relevant section. Thanks.

it used to be 5 US$... and it wasn't an official fee, cause there was never a bill/receipt issued for!

If you have no overstay go to the andaman club, smiling immigration people, airco ferry, casino for lunch (or instant turnaround) the whole thing so much more civilized and for a couple hundred baht more than screwing around on longtails in the baking sun, followed by the usual Vic point experience (you want viagra, copy vodka, my sister) and return to the scowling immigration at Ranong..

Just did a run with bangkok legal in a mini van, a real pain but they did ok 1500 bt they pay the $10 Us and the ferry a little better than a longtail{ a roof}

they also have a free lunch in a good hotel in Ranong.

Thanks Los, I've been there before and it is as you described; very pleasant and civilized.

However, this time I just wanna chop the passport and be on my way back. Never used Visa Run vans, always drive by myself. It takes me only 3 hours drive to reach Ranong Immigration, usually leave at 5am to be there when their office opens. Back in Phuket by 1pm.

I was thinking of trying Happy Air to Langkawi but they told me return flight is in 60 minutes upon arrival, according to them not enough time to board. Besides, they charge Baht 5,000 which sounds unreasonable for return fare.

Someone mentioned fireflyz air company or something like that but can't find any info about flights from Phuket to Langkawi.

You can air asia to KL and back same day.. Unsure if Tiger still have that option to Sing, they used to. Silk do but its a bit more costly.

Firefly operates Phuket Penang.. Not a bad option..

You can fly Air Asia to KL and back, same day for around 3,900 baht, or Jetstar to Singapore for 3,700 baht. I am doing this trip tomorrow to Singapore. Changi airport is great for a few hours wait. Last trip I did there were only 11 people on the plane.

I thought Tiger and jetstar had been consigned to the nasty budget terminal and they wont let you into T1 and T2 check in ??

I agree with LivingLOS

Go to the Andaman Club instead of Kaw Thaung.

They have immigration on the island and the Chinese restaurant in the casino is excellent.

I won 6,000 on the poker machines last time i went.
