Hi,

Does anyone know of any pharmacies in Bangkok or pattaya that are stocking the Melanotan 2 product? This is a tanning aid, deisgned to combat skin cancer.

Any information on what pharmacies, if any, have it would be appreciated either here or via pm.

Thanks,

Falcon

Sure it is, I use it often as I have friends bring it over from Europe but I have run out of it now and no-one is coming over, thus the reason i wanted to try to find it here. It protects against skin cancer through increasing the melanin that the body naturally produces by about a 1,000% - melanin is produced in order to protec the skin from the effects of the sun, this being the reason that we get a tan. With the melanotan the tan is amazing (because of the increased melanin production) but without the problems of burning (sun burn) and other negative aspects of being in the sun.

Tanning aid that prevents skin cancer? it sounds like an oxymoron.

Is such a product possible?

The drug (generic: afalamelanotide) has not yet been approved for use in any country. There are clinical trials ongoing with it and it may indeed come onto the market in future, but not yet.

You will certainly not find it in Thai pharmacies. Not only is it not approved, but a product designed to darken the skin would hardly sell here given the very strong preference for lighter skin.

The company which is developing this product has issued a public warning about counterfeit and untested products being sold under the same name

This is the reason that I enquired about any pharmacies in Bangkok or Pattaya that may have it as they, especialy Pattaya, cater to the foreign population who do like a tan. I have been given a pharmacy location in Pattaya which I will try tomorow and will update when I have found out if its being sold there or not.

Anyway, thanks for the reply,
