Want To Buy Old American Car

Featured Replies

We wish to buy old American car mid to late 1940s, any make. No pictures required at first, wait until we find something that fits our requirements. JD -- email -- Thanks

I once looked at buying an old motor. Every one I looked at had nice bodywork but the Thai's have a habit of ripping out the old engine and fitting an Isuzu or Toyota diesel. Good luck

Not easy to find a 1940's vehicle. 60's quite common, but as another member pointed out, they usually have had an engine change.

Does it have to be a car, a pick up there is more chance?

I was there, they want about 450'k so far as i remember. Pretty fair price, because the car is complet, but need a restoration. There is a 6 cylinder engine iside, should be original, but i didn't see under the bonned, as i'm not really interested to buy, because i have already 2 american cars. But if i don't have american cars already, i would consider on this model.

Been dreaming about that one for a long time but now when i see the price im not that interested anymore , thanx! :)

The price is almost a bargain. It's cheap for Thailand. Mosthly i saw junk for 700'k or 1 Million f... up mustang etc, with japanese engine and japanese dahsboard. But this car still original. The problem is that in Thailand all those cars are very expensive and sometime they lost the paperwork. So it's very hard to find one for a decent price with complete paperwork and tax up to date. Ol those cars got junked 20 years ago, because noone gave any attention to tose cars. Therefore almost nothing left anymore prices are skyrocketing now. Can't do any imports. Even old Japanese cars, like Datsun 280 ZX or Mitsu 75' Lancer Coupe they consider as a classic now and they want 300 to 500'k for one.

Narong in Bang Na still have a 1963 4 door Cadillac (with small fins) for about 600'k. Car is black and in drivable and fair condition. My 2 oldsmobiles i own cost moe almost 1 million Baht. I know it's high, but there is nothing to find anymore. and i have. But in anotherway you can restore a car like this for quite small money, with max. 150'k a chrysler like this would look and drive like new. On the follow link you can see some more American cars:

there is a guy just up from my village with some REALLY old Iron. give me a tinkle if you are serious and I'll take some snaps and get u some prices. Some are restored. Some are "projects".

Caught my eye with a 1967 plymouth Fury III but that was just the hors derve. Got some SERIOUSLY old trucks.

On taladrod.com under Ford Prope? 65/66 Fairlane 500 2 door cheap if it has paperwork and would be very horny with a V8 transplant and "dressing up".

Go to the Amercan Car Club site and register. Their headquarters is in Bangkok and there are about 150 members, many with multiple American cars. I have seen some 40's trucks for sale in the past. I bought my 65 Oldsmobile Cutlass off this site and joined the club. Good luck.

Hey stingray. Guess what I saw on a rollback today? A lincoln conti - 4 door - about a 1968 - just like my dad used to own. I was in a taxi so I couldn't get pictures.

Saw your late model Camaro a few days ago on Petchburi. Sweet ride.

Stingray,

Didn't know you had a Camero. Did you buy one recently?

Yes, i had a 1982, Z28 Camaro in Pattaya, white color, but that's already a while ago. I had also a couple Trans Ams (yellow one, gold one, turkis one and a dark blue one, all with T tops and original engines), a 73' Challenger and a 72 T bird, also both with original engines. But those cars i had before. Today i can't find anything nice anymore. The last nice US Car i had was a 1956 Chevy Bel Air, 2 door sedan (not the Hard Top), bought it once in Phuket, sold it 6 months ago. Today i still have 2 Oldsmobiles left.

I used the term "your Camaro". It is one sitting in a showroom at the end of Petchburi road after Ekkami, outbound that I know Stingray watches.

We would both like to own it.

Probably 2 million is my guess.
