specifically the expandable versions meant to fill the space between open doors/rooms etc and prevent kids from leaving the area. anyone seen these around anywhere on the island?

Not seen, we brought ours down from Bkk however sometimes the supermarket in Nathorn (forgotten the name of it, by the Kasikorn bank?) has them as does the furniture places further on through Nathorn going towards the hospital turn off.

Failing the above, you could try ordering and DHL/FedEx from Bkk perhaps?

thanks for the replies. i will check nathon as ideally i would prefer to have the sliding expandable versions as each entry to be blocked is a different size and i'd like them to be interchangeable.

the shops where they do welding. u give them the disgns they can make anything. thats what i would do. in fatc i might gdo some anyway for my house
