still no go on racing as its been unsuitable for racing, big waves over a meter? , hope they get the green light today

its on! just halfway up on leg 1, Oracle leads 523m, boats are doing 20 knots upwind!!! headwind is 8 knots.

amazing to see 2 cutting edge boats flying up the coast with chase boats going flat out trying to keep up.

Oracle leads @ the top mark by 1000 M, Alnghi also requires to do a penalty turn.........

Oracle looks so spaceage with their massive wing/mainsail

Oracle certainly looks the goods, very impressive. 3000M lead. She powers ahead.

This year's race is a poor incarnation of the series' that were played out in Auckland in 2000 and 2003. Two teams? *yawn*

oh well, there goes another AC, who knows what/when the next one might bring

Now Oracle has named the next challenger, from Italy.

suppose its different from what we expected, but it was fascinating to see how far they could push the designs

The America's Cup is poised to return to its traditional multiple challenger format after US side Oracle won the 33rd edition of sailing's oldest and most prestigious trophy held in Spain. Oracle boss Larry Ellison said he had not yet decided on where to stage the next Cup - although he mentioned Newport, San Diego and San Francisco in the United States as possibilities - but he said the location must have room for many teams
