What's the latest information on getting a Non-B visa from the RTC in Denver? Easy? Extra paperwork?

I suggest contacting them ... they require an appointment. They are less friendly than they were when Dawn was there in 2003 (or I should say they were less friendly in 2007 than they were in 2003!)

Not sure about Denver, but several member reports have indicated both Portland, Oregon and Houston, Texas consulates are helpful.

^^ and their voice mail doesn't give specifics of the appointment process, only that they are only open mornings Mon-Thu. I can leave a message but they won't return long distance calls.... I am in TX.

My fave option so far is/has been Perth ... mainly so I don't have to go to Texas AND Denver (family in both places!)

Done and dusted!

The RTC in Denver will issue the visa same-day tomorrow (Thursday in US) since we have an urgent travel scenario. Our consultant is in Durango so he will fly there tomorrow and get the visa, go home and pack before heading for Bangkok on Sunday.

Houston takes 3 working days so handy for normal applications or applications by mail.

Perth is an option we keep in mind when bringing in someone from the antipodes or SE Asia... not practical for a guy coming from the US at such short notice.

Only ThaiVisa can short circuit a panic between 4 time zones; client in Bangkok, head office in England, me in Houston and our man in Denver.

When I first came here, it was all pretty predictable. Nights out, bars, always somewhere busy. That was the routine. These days it’s different. Quieter, less going out. I still drop in now and then, but it’s not the center of things anymore. The scene itself feels different too.Fewer girls around, or just moved online? Comfort of course, we all do. And having the aircon ON is part of the equation. But there is difference with a moderate gentle aircon cooling and how in some Grab cars or restaurants it's put in full throttle and you almost need a light sweater.

Re infrastructure upgrades, many have often said Thailand is just Cambodia with a shiny capital city centre, shopping malls and rapid transit. Get outside of the city into 'bannock' and not a whole lot looks different (IMO). Poverty still very apparent. People getting by day to day with peasant farming still a large way of life for the large majority there. The retail shop owners in those places seem to be primarily the grandchildren of Chinese migrants. The only ones who had any capital I guess.
