Diving Recommendation + Accomodation Koh Tao

Featured Replies

Hi there people

I am coming out to Thailand from the UK next Saturday, and heading to Koh Tao to do the introductory PAD diving course. Had a quick look on the net, and heard that Mae Haad is a lively place to stay.

Can anybody recommend a dive centre, and a nice place to stay?

In terms of budget I am hoping to get something for around 2000 baht a night with A/C and a swimming pool.

Really looking forward to it.

Cheers

:)

Hello Meister

Mae Haad is not very lively anymore. Can't recommend it. Beach dirty and polluted

Sairee is very nice. Many dive shops to choose from. Check out Sairee Cottage (Google it). It might suit your needs and your budget. If not there are 49 other dive shops to choose from :):D

Happy diving

yep meister, mae haad ,or a short hop to sairee, loadsa dive shops, for open water course, youre 2k budget will surely get you what you want accom wise, atm viz and general dive conditions near to perfect, enjoy :)

Hi there, i know a very good reputable company on Koh Tao ok, i'll PM you the details ok....cheers for now.

Hi again,

srry i forgot to add in m PM that they can probably arrange accommodation for you. If not just go to a site like sawadee.com as they have many, many places listed and i'm sure you'll find somewhere no problem that fits your requirements.

Cheers for now.

Hi - unlike the others, I don't feel there is anything wrong with Mae Haad versus Sairee - it is really all the same beach anyway.

For diving I know both Crystal and Planet Scuba - both are good and have good instructors (speaking from personal experience). Next to them is a brand new hotel on the beach with a great pool and really nice rooms - The Regal.

If you have any questions, just fire me a note... I'm here right now. ;-)

Take care and have a good trip

i for 1 did not say anything wrong bout mae haad, i genuinlly reckon that just about any first time visitor

to koh tao wouldnt be disapointed, with mae haad or sairee, as you said its more or less the same beach anyway,, that said with no need to quote any particular resort or dive operator

Book a night at either Sensi paradise, (Mae Haad) or highly recommended the rocks near Sairee, or Sairee cottage as for diving dont decide untill you have got there and walk around the dive stores, there are plenty ,Scuba Junction ,Big blue , Sairee cottage , etc that are all good .

have fun.

Hi there people

Thanks for all the replies. Just managed to book my flight down to Samui for the monday. Left a bit late, and was lucky to get a seat. Paid well over what I could have paid had I been a bit cannier.

Think I will just get myself there, and check out the recommended places.

Cheers people

Not long now!!!!! :)
