Hello,

I am a US national traveling to Thailand from China and had a question about the Visa Exemption stamp. I have read that I need 10,000 Baht when I go through immigration. Does that need to be in cash (foreign equivilant or THB) or would a bank statement due? I am trying to withdraw as little money as possible from foreign ATM's because of the fees and I also would like to not get destroyed by the Chinese exchange counters.

Thanks for your help.

PS: Any ideas for some romantic outings in Bangkok that I could impress the GF with?

Immigration requirements state "the applicant must possess means of living expenses at the amount of 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family accordingly" but is seldom checked. Suggest you take an ATM card with you so in the very unlikely event you are asked you have the means to immediately obtain/show cash. In 10 years travelling/living here I have never been asked, so don't worry too much about it.

Okay. Good to know that if asked I can just go get it with my card from an ATM and not get denied entry because of it! Thanks very much for the help thaiphoon.
