I was at 3 Honda dealers in Chonburi yesterday. All told me July was the delivery date if you wanted to buy a new City. But, if I wanted an '09 Civic, dark grey, ivory interior, I could have it next week...for basically the same price as the '10! Crazy.

Not sure I can wait until July. Do you think I would have better luck in Bangkok?

Went to Toyota and there is a new Vios out shortly. 45 day delivery time. About 2 months for the Corolla.

Man, I wish I was a sales rep for these guys. Sit around, take orders and not really have to sell anything!

Four month's ago I tried to order a Toyota fortuna sportivo. And was told 2 month's + for delivery. I told them that was no good as I would be back in England. And unless I got delivery pronto. Would'nt place an order. Left phone no: and walked out. Next day had call, As I was paying cash, + some extra's I wanted fitted. The car would be with them on monday. It would be ready for pick up thursday. The day they phoned thursday. So eight day's. Might not work with you but worth a try. Plus I also got a great discount. You could also try honda head office Bkk, and give them a line. That you'll buy a Toyota if you cant get what you want quick.

That's just the way it is, if you want a popular car you have to wait. Dealers in Thailand keep no stock or only a few units. Sometimes if you are not too picky on color or trim level they can get you into a car that was ordered but the orginial buyer could not take the car. I wanted a certian color and trim so I waited three months for a City.

I did notice a difference in delivery dates among the various dealers I met...all except for the City model!

I am amazed they have NO inventory here. I am use to walking on a lot with hundreds of new cars. Totally different here...but I do like it as the hassle factor of trying to negotiate for a car is non-existent here! Pretty much take the car at this price, get a few freebies, and head on down the road....
