Big Thumbs Up For Herbert!

Featured Replies

I took the visa run to Kota Bharu with Herbert last Tuesday and I have to say it wasn't as bad as I feared...

I once took a visa run (forgot the company name) about 4 years ago and it was the worst. Stuck on a mini-bus full of drunks all boozing away, being driven at 160km/h in the pouring rain, I feared for my life and vowed never again! Since then I have always flown to Penang for my yearly visa. However due to them now only handing out 3 months visa's I took the trip with Herbert.

I went for his VIP Bus at 5,500 Baht and I have to say it was very comfortable. The bus itself had six big leather seats (with seat-belts!) and a flat screen TV up front. There is no drinking or smoking on board and the other people I was with on the trip were very pleasant.

The whole trip is timed to perfection, the only down sides are hanging around in a shopping centre for 4 hours and also Had Yai. However the time passes quickly and you're back on Samui before you know it (along with visa)

Definitely recommended.

Matt.

I was informed by my solicitors that the embassy at KL has now changed its rules. Your company must now be VAT registered for you to qualify for a one-year

Matt.

Yes i agree with you Matt. Herberts Visa Run is the best. I would even say it is the best in Thailand from the ones i have been on. The trip is hassle free everytime i have been with him. He is a top guy as well. He is always there to help and tells it how is it. Not like the Thai companys who do it with all the messing around and hassle. Many people from who live in Bangkok also go down to Samui just to go on Herberts visa run. He is that good and word is starting to spread threw the expats in Thailand

Round trip Samui-KL (Subang) with firefly.

6230 Baht.

yep,, fine if your happy to get only 3 months visa, bit of a waste of time and money nowadays if you need 1 year,

as matt said , herberts for 1 year ,gaurannteed.

Julie is also offering a Kota Baru service now. :)

Let the ' Visa Run War ' begin ! :) I cant see how anyone is really going to beat Herbert. The guy is to focused on what he does and nothing/no one stops his ' Time schedule '. Thats why so many people go with him. He gets the job done evrytime with no messing around.

There will be people who moan about him. But normally them people are the ones who have been with and forgot sometime and therefore got a ' good telling off ' by Herbert.

Bottom line is Herberts Visa run will always have the most custmers becuase of his service. Yeah sure he is payed well for it ( i would think there are no farangs on Samui who make as much money as he does ) But for the job he does i think he deserves it. Good luck to the guy and keep going with the great visa runs

I wasn't starting a thread to discuss who does the best visa run... I just wanted to report a positive experience! :)

As there are only two professional visa run companies on this island, both run by Farangs, you are bound to get a discussion. They both have the same buses, interior equipment and timetables. Perhpas if you had done a visa run with both companies, and then compared them, the discussion would not be nessecary! :)

I think you'll find another company called easyway also do visa trips. I'm not sure how professional they are, but my friend had a very bad experience with them.

Their passport suddenly dissapeared on the way back from the border, luckily the Thai driver had a call from his "friend" who works at the border who had found it! Lucky!

It cost my friend 10,000 baht for them to drive back to border where the Thai driver retrieved it from his friend who met him behind an empty booth... A complete con.

Anyway, just for you screamingeagle when I renew my yearly visa in 15 months time I will use Julie's Visa Run and then write a full breakdown comparison of both visa runs.

How does that sound?

In the meantime I will carry on driving to Ranong every 3 months to do my border-bounce. I can also give a full description of my trip with pictures for everyone.

Matt's comments are very warrented. Personally i like hearing positive news about the services many of us need to use. There are more than two services on offer. However i have only ever heard positives about Herbert and Julie. I have also had aweful feedback about another one.

One of the benefits Mr Eagle of the forum is valid/correct, input/info from members so that others don't have to learn from bitter experience. :D

And this is ofcourse from your wide samui experience of drinking in Lamai. :D

Some bar go bust, some break even, and some still make a lot of money. Unless something has changed in the last couple of minutes, it's also the case the world over. :D

2 accidents in 5 years of doing this? I think that's an excellent safety record if you take the thai roads in to consideration, plus the amount of trips he does each week/month/year.

I was in the VIP van which Herbert drove himself. Not insane at all.

It's a visa for working. What is the problem to have it with all the right paperwork? Any consulate must give it.

Well, i'm only a tourist, so a trip to hat yai (450b), hotel (300-700b), minibus to border (50+50b) and bus back (450b) is enough for any 1/2/3 entry visa given free anywhere in europe.
