A friend arrives in Thailand next week. He's on a Tourist Visa but will probably look to get an extension. It's likely that he will want to do a 15 day border run after that. He's going back home afterwards so doesn't want the hassle of going abroad to get another Tourist Visa. What's the limit on how many 15 day stamps you will get before you have to get a "Real Visa"?

There is no official limit, but at 4 back to back land border crossings immigration may well ask questions. For your friend's situation there is no problem.

whilst there's no limit on the amount that you can have, you cannot stay in Thailand for more than 90 days on 15 day stamps (or 30 days if u come in visa the airport) in any 180 day period.

I'm surprised that the "super moderator" didn't know this ?!?!?!?!

Probably because there is no such rule in operation.

There was once but it disappeared over a year ago. :)

That rule changed on 4th December 2008 which is why the "Super Moderator" did not say that. It was replaced with reduction in the number of days permitted to stay on 'visa exempt' entry at land border from 30 to 15.

30 visa .

i made enquiries on this ,a while back with the british embassy ,

i was told , three -- 30 day visa would be ok.

no 4 , visa request would be at the discretion of the immigration officer .

Believe you are talking about visa exempt entry and there has not been any such policy for 30 day entry (and many people are well over that number) and for 15 day entry the policy is that at entry 4 you may be questioned, and a few have. We have no report of anyone being refused visa exempt entry.

Any entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer.
