Hi there.

I am a 29 year-old US citizen at the end of my double-entry tourist visa (the 60-day, 30-day ext., border run, 60-day, 30-day ext.). It is set to expire on March 13th, but I'd really like to stay an additional 2 weeks, not to mention my flight is scheduled for the 25th! Is this 2-week visa obtainable with a Burma visa run even though I've been here for 6 months?

I visited the immigration office today, but I'm not convinced the guy gave me the best advice. He told me I'll need to get out of the country and apply for a new TR visa, which could take 10 days. :)

Thanks a mil for any help.

You will get 15 days 'visa exempt' stamp on re-entry at land border crossing or 30 days if re-entering the Kingdom by air. With your current permission to stay expiring on 13th March, it should be possible to use visa exempt entry for the additional time you require before leaving with careful planning.

Excellent!

Aside from transportation, do you know exactly how much it is to exit and re-enter Thailand?

I appreciate your help. :)

It costs nothing to exit/enter Thailand. But you have to enter another country and that will require payment. I believe Burma is crisp $10 or 500 baht.

I got that bit of info from the fellow at the door (security?). I asked him if I needed to speak with someone at the desk, but he assured me he could answer my questions. So much for that...

O, and this is the Chiang Mai immigration office, close to the airport.

In fact as stated above, what ever country you decide on it is cheaper if you have some clean newish dollars.

Laos is 35 dollars or 1500 bt a bit of a difference

Burma 10 dollars or 500 bt as Lopburi stated

Cambodia ?? dollars or ???? bt 1000 last time i was there but that was a year or more ago.

Security gaurds in Thailand...they just love them uniforms!! :)

If you are in Chang Mai Best bet would be to go to mai sai 500 Baht to Mayanmar immigration 14 day stamp

Is actually a 15 day stamp, but the day of entry counts as day 1.
