Seems to me the water is extremely shallow on KPG.

Which beaches, that are a flat motobike ride fron Thongsala, have the deepest water close to shore?

Thnx. :)

Haad Rin, Haad Yuan, Haad Tien, Haad Yao East, Than SAdet, Tong Nai Pan, Bottle Beach, Chaloklum, Mae Haad: 24/7

Haad Salad, Haad Yao, Srithanu with high tide.

The rest of the island not so suitable for swimming due to shallow reefs

Chaloklum, Mae Haad: 24/7

Haad Salad, Haad Yao, Srithanu with high tide.

These are the beaches that I can get to easily.

Is there a particular spot on any of these beaches that is deeper than others?

I can deal with waist deep water but knee deep isn't going to work.

Thnx.

The west side is always shallow this time of year. Easiest to get to from Thong Sala is probably Hadrin. If you can drive the hills.

chaloklam bay north in front of cafe del mar, rose bungalow and fanta is ok for swimming during most tides. everything else will depend on the tides.

I was up at Mae Haad / Ko Ma, today, ... crystal clear waters, ... & you don't need to wade out too far to find more than waist deep water & the snorkeling is pretty darn good!

Of course tide has a bearing, but it was fairly well out this morning & a number of people swimming & snorkeling.... certainly one of the best beaches on KP in my opinion.

Island View Cabana, rents out snorkeling masks... well worth it... 200 baht for the day I think....(have my own)

Thanks guys.

The hills to Had Rin are not for me. Novice biker here.

I see most on KPG ride without helmets but I use a very expensive imported one I wouldn't want to lose.

Any recomendations of restaurant where I can leave my helmet after lunch on Chaloklam or Mae Had? Or really anyplace where can patronize their business and leave my helmet.

in chaloklam you can leave your helmet @cafe del mar a nice dutch couple is running it.

You can certainly leave your helmet or anything else (wallet etc) at Island View, they have lockers for small fee. ( I am sure most resort places, will do).

I never had a problem asking anywhere to keep something for me anywhere in my travels around Thailand... but then there are "certain areas" :) I have avoided too... if you get my drift!

Stoopid question here, but is high tide or low tide the best time to find swimable water?

I know high tide sounds better, but at low tide you hit the water further away from shore.
