There are tasix in Phuket, and they are the major source of tourist compaints. There are a few proper metered taxis, and they are OK. But the overwhelming majority of such "taxi" transport is in the form of tuk-tuks, 4-wheeled vs. the 3-whell BKK version. The drivers are famous for rude and sometimes criminal behaviour, and cases of assault of passengers by these thugs are common. The tuk-tuks have stron protection from "dark influences" which is the code phrase for crooked police and politicians. This on top of fares that are exorbitant and inflexible. Good luck if you try this mode of transport.

There are taxis in Phuket, but I have found that the best, most comfortable, and cheapest is a company on the way up towards Kata Viewpoint.

While the modes of transportation are somewhat slow and the air-conditioning is debatable, I'm sure that the elevated position you have will outweigh the negatives.

I don't have their telephone number to hand otherwise you could pay them a trunk call ....... you troll tw.t
