I found my lost son in the philippines. I was a Marine there in 1988. He is now 21 years old! Can I still bring him to the US to live with us? Where do I start? What do I do? I live in Iowa, so cheers to everyone out there.

I think you need to know what you have at the moment. Documents saying he's your son is a good start. Do you think the mother will help you out? Ask your embassy there in the US for the paper works.

Good luck!

Be sure to contact the embassy and/or Immigration before getting the DNA test. There has to be an unbroken chain of evidence in order for them to verify that he is your child. If he is, he is then entitled to citizenship and a passport. It all takes time, however.

Best of luck.

Hey Folks - Thx for the replies. I signed an Affidavit of paternity after he was born and it seems he's entitled to US Passport. I am doing the paperwork now. I don't think a DNA test will be required. Thanks again!
