Help Needed

Featured Replies

Hello Forum,

I use Fragmin Injections on a daily basis and have imported them previously from the UK. This can sometimes take up to two (2) weeks to be delivered with TNT Global Express.Does anyone know of a quicker and easier way.

Thanks in advance and any help would be appreciated

Fred in Pattaya

Hello Fred,

Not a drug I normally deal with, however when you can't get medications at the local chemists you generally can at the private hospitals. More expensive but generally available. Your name suggests you are in Pattaya, I would check with Bangkok - Pattaya hospital. If they don't stock it, Bumrungrad in Bangkok carries many medications unavailable elsewhere.

Thanks for viewing any help would be nice.

Hi Fred,

I would suggest that you go to one of the local hospitals and arrange for a prescription, if you can not buy it OTC. In Thailand it is sold under the generic name - Dalteparin Sodium. My guess though is that it will be an RX (Only), but you never know there may well be a friendly pharmacist that sells it OTC.

Just as an aside, maybe this inquiry would be better off in the main health section? :)

Moved to the main health forum.

It is approved for use in Thailand but no brands listed which suggests no one has applied for a license to import it. However enoxaparin (Clexane), nadroparin (Fraxiparin Forte), tinzaparin (Innohep) are available. They are quite similiar to dalteparin i.e. a low molecular weight heparin and available over the counter in pre-filled syringes, although probably found only at very large pharmacies. I expect that there would be no problem switching from dalteparin (Fragmin) to either of these but ask your primnary physician first. Of these choices, the tinzaparin will be the least costly as it is locally made whereas the others are imports.
