I am very confused on the best thing to do regarding a Thai visa and would like some help from the experts.

I am flying into Bangkok on the 19th April and planning to leave after maybe a week travelling across the border to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, spending 3 weeks out of Thailand before returning to Thailand to see the islands (phi phi etc), on the exemption this should get me an extra 15 days however again will i need proof of a flight out and does my flight out of singapore count as this flight will be within the 15days I am in thailand the second time round?

My first problem is whether to get a visa or a visa exemption?

If i get a visa exemption i need proof that i will be flying out of thailand withing 30 days, correct? however I do not have proof as i don't know exactly when i will be travelling to Cambodia however i will definetly be leaving Thailand within 30 days.

If I get an actual visa, do i need single entry or multiple entry as I will be re-entering Thailand at some point. The cost for this at the time of writing is £100, however I've heard somewhere that after the 1st April the visa will be free again, is this true? and does this apply to multiple entry visas?

Is it worth just booking a cheap flight out of thailand to prove that i'll be leaving within 30 days and then see if I can make it (as i'm intending on keeping dates fairly loose in SE asia) and get the exemption? or is it best to just fork out for an expensive multiple entry visa now or is it worth waiting to april 1st to see if it becomes free again - will this allow me enough time to get a visa?

I hope someone can help me as this is confusing and troubling me.

Kind Regards

A single entry tourist visa is 100 pounds? It should be equivalent to 1,000 baht.

You should have a single entry visa if no onward ticket - that will take care of airline travel here. Once in the area you can safely use 30 day visa exempt entry for return visits of 15 days by and or 30 days by air. They will not check for onward ticket at land crossing under current policy (although that could change - in which case you could obtain a tourist visa locally).

A single entry Tourist Visa costs £28.

For Tourist Visa state 1, 2 or 3 (max) entries (fee for each entry is £28). A single entry Tourist Visa is valid for 3 months from date of issue and allows a single stay of 60 days max from date of entry. A double or triple entry Tourist Visa is valid for 6 months from date of issue and allows 2 or 3 stays each of 60 days max from date of entry.

Thanks for your replies, this helps me alot. Can someone tell me if the thai single entry and multiple entry visa will be free again from April 1st? Is it worth waiting untill the 1st to just to see what happens as if i do need to get one will I have ebough time to get one between then and the 19th April? Also what are the cheapest local airlines to use when out in thailand and surrounding area?

Thanks
