After reading the threads under insurance, I grasp the insurance on offer, and I have obtained a few quotes, but I find that I have no good basis for comparison - I don't know what a competitive rate is, so I don't know what mark to try for.

My picture, for comparison:

Husband and wife, both mid-40's, both US Citizens, ED-Visas, rented house Chonburi, 1 Jeep Wrangler 16 yrs old, 2 Yamaha 150cc scooters 2008.

No accident or damages claims in Thailand, none in 20 years in the US.

I have AXA 3rd class on the jeep and the scooters, and I am billed 27,000 THB annually (2250THB/MO)

I have US-based health coverage which needs to go away. It costs me 240 USD/mo (7680THB/mo) and is steep with co-pays, deductibles, and don't-go-there's.

I obtained a quote for health insurance at 38,000 THB annually (3150THB/mo), and feel thats a bit much. I will

spare the detailed list of provisions, it is a class-a package with very small co-pays for visits and meds, and the health history was exhaustive, but well-presented.

Would anyone venture to offer up some comparative costs on Vehicle, Health Plan, Renters property insurance?

PM me, please, if you prefer to keep numbers off the board.

Clearly I have no idea what price norms are, so cannot be a smart customer.

I am replying as reference to your thread. I am sure other members will be able to contribute to your inquiries:

*( I have a new Vios and pay 16,000 baht annual for a "first class" policy. my insurance company is Viriyha)

*( agree, I have a similar situation as you)

**(the quote normally is predicated on your age, if you are over 50 years old - the rate jumps and even higher at 60 years. check out Bupa medical insurance. The quote I rec' was around 40,000 and you'll need to get a physical at a designated hospital if you are approved.

Would anyone venture to offer up some comparative costs on Vehicle, Health Plan, Renters property insurance?

Simple answer is to go to a Broker – so many variables you cannot get a real answer as everyone different.

Use the Thai Visa Brokers – simple and reliable plus you are luck as they have office in Pattaya

Just wait until you get older, I am 64 and my wife is 55..This year we paid UK£4300 with PPP International. I actually asked BUPA Thailand and they were about the same but would not cover pre existing conditions...which is normally the case. I have been many years with PPP through my work and three years with the international branch. It does cover travel to anywhere except USA and Canada.

If you never go outside Thailand, then you are paying for cover in high cost countries such as Japan, Switzerland, Australia, UK and many others. That doesn't make sense. Excluding the USA is one thing but if what you really need is Thailand only, then you are seriously over insured and accordingly over paying. Ad hoc travel insurance for short trips to other countries is available as presumably are cheap annual travel insurance policies from Thailand.

The OP's car insurance seems massively overpriced and I don't suspect the incorporated bike insurance is the reason.

I also find health insurance in Thailand to be a nightmare to compare. The boundaries as to what level is required for this or that and whether the insurer will pay direct seem to be constantly changing. I read only today in this section about a guy who needed a CAT scan but BUPA would not pay and the only lackeys he could get hold of over the weekend would not dare speak to someone further up the food chain who could authorise it. That is madness, as is being expected to pay out millions and then claim it back. Just exactly who has 5m baht on instant access ?
