Modify A Uk Xbox360

I have my UK xbox360 with me in Bangkok, that I bought over when I moved here. I took it to a couple of computer shops in Centralworld that modify xbox's to play copied games, but they both told me that they can't modify UK models.

Does anyone know who does? Or if it's even possible? I've got to go to MBK monday night anyway, but it might save me some time if anyone has any experience of doing this before.

What is the purpose of having the box modified? Are you intending on stealing intellectual property, and playing counterfeited games? These forums do not support people intending to steal or defraud.

From a technical point of view modifying any xbox 360 is the same regardless of region(NTSC, NTSC/J, ASIA, PAL).

That's what I thought, but both shops said they couldn't do it, because it was a UK x box and an older model. I'm very confused now. I know once it's been modded I will only be able to play region free games, but can't see how that effects modding it in the first place.

the only real issue is the DVD drive model and version used that can affect the install of custom firmware mods.

You just hack the firmware of the DVD drive.

If the drive in your Xbox is unhackable (as some are) then they just replace the DVD drive.

Very easy to swap (if the shop is setup for it) and not very expensive.

No, you cannot "swap the DVD drive. Well you could swap the reader, but the drives PCB is tied to the consoles motherboard. I'd actually recommend you buy a new pre modified xbox as mmicrosoft are waving their banstick around quite a bit nowadays. Mine got banned during the launch of MW2. Since then i've been playing the PS3 online (for free!) and it's justas good. I do miss XBL marketplace.
