Hello there, not sure this is the correct way to ask a question but oh well.

My friend has recently return to the uk from a months holiday in Thailand. She wants to come back to thailand to meet me and stay for another month on one of the islands, are there any restrictions on getting a new visa? im pretty sure she had the standard 30 day tourist visa when she was here?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If she is a U.K. citizen, and she came in originally on a tourist visa or just the stamp on arrival at the airport, she should have no problem getting back in. She is eligable for the 30 day stamp on arrival if she arrives at the airport. Shouldn't be any questions asked for the 2nd arrival. After 3 or 4 arrivals...it's possible they might then be asking some questions...but not the 2nd time around. Even then, for the 3rd or 4th time...if she left for a signifigant period, they probably won't ask too many questions. Just as long as she looks like a valid tourist, and doesn't appear to be trying to work or obtain a job in Thailand. If they ever thought she was trying to use the "tourist" thing to work in Thailand without a work permit...that could get nasty. But not on just the 2nd time coming in to the country.

Cheers for the quick responce, Yeah she left back to the uk on the 20th march and wants to fly back out on the 9th april, so she wont need to apply for a visa in the uk?

Suspect your friend originally arrived on 30 day visa exempt entry stamp obtained at the airport (which is not a visa). There are no restrictions on the amount of time that can be spent here. Note that your friend's airline may refuse her boarding if she is not in possession of either an air ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival or a valid visa to meet Thai immigration requirements. Depending upon precise length of future stay, your friend may need to obtain a tourist visa from consulate before travelling, which would give initial 60 day permission to stay on entry. Tourist visas are free from 1st April 2010.

If your friend is thinking of coming over to thailand frequently, then why not obtain a multi entry 'O' visa from hull, about £100.00 but would allow her to come and and go as many times times as she wants within the year, and be given 90days permitted to stay stamp each visit. apply by special delivery post the passport is returned the following day. This would avoid any future complications.
