I am not sure if this is the right forum to put this thread so if some moderator needs to move it please do so.

I am 65 and definitely overweight at 117kg and I thought it was about time I dieted again using a diet that worked before.

The_Australian_Womens_diet.doc

In a week I lost 7kg and I sort of lost interest in eating which was OK at the time.

On Sunday I decided to ride to Bangkok on my motorcycle as I do every month or 6 weeks.

I had a later start and it it was hot at around 37C.

I drove about 40km then stopped for a drink and didn't feel too well so I decided to come back home and got 36 km before I could hardly see and stopped before I fell off and had an accident. Fortunately it was at a small local restaurant where they know of me and my family.

They helped me off my bike and helped me take off my kit and got me to lay down on the usual low table and offered me water.

By that time I was close to collapsing but they kept an eye on me and after about 15 minutes of sweating profusely I managed to call my wife who came complete with family and friends (they were on their way out to a swimming place) to collect me. A friend rode my bike back for me.

I went to bed with the a/c on for a couple of hours then ate some crackers and cream cheese for lunch about 4 pm and felt a bit better.

I remembered a couple of threads on TV about electrolytes and I think that my problem was not enough food and sweating too much took all my salts etc from my body.

Today I feel much better and have given up on the diet and take a couple of bottles a day of Sponsor drinks (10 baht from 7/11).

I will be going back to BKK on my motorcycle but not for a little while.

The gentle warning is to be careful when dieting to make sure that you don't end up like me. :)

Most of the weight loss on this diet that you exprienced (7kg) during the first week would have been fluids only, definitely accounting for the symptoms. On top of that, it is way too calory restricted for an adult, especially for an older age group.

Please be gentle with your body; you only get one per lifetime!!

Agreed...7kg in one week is way too much anyway to loose, you may have been dehydrated as stated above all loss is most likely fluid, also would guess your BP was playing around too...

Rule of Thumb for weight loss.....1-1.5 kg week maximum

I have done the diet before over the last couple of years and that weight loss is mentioned in the thread but yes this time I must have overdone it.

It is very hot about 36C at the moment and I was dehydrated.

Also as it was hot I sort of lost interest in eating anyway.

Lying on that low table I could feel the sweat pouring off me but on my bike I don't notice it as the wind dries it off until I stop.

The good news is that I have tossed the diet away and I have gone back to real food.

Yippeeee

As Arnold Westlers play says

Chips with everything :)
