i was kind of surprised not to see anything on here. does anyone have any info on the machete armed thugs that were robbing people on koh phan ngan.

a friend said his neighbor got hit up for 8k THB, near mae haad/utopia.

apparently the thieves were apprehended by local police in haad yao a couple of days back with a number of credit cards and significant amount of cash after 3 or 4 days of theft .

the thieves were apparently not locals but from the mainland and were apparently quite twisted on yaabaa.

interesting times.

well, primarily because even at machete point I doubt I could choke back a chang.

Second, because my friend lives next door to a woman who was robbed, and knows another who was also accosted.

I am not so certain of the details of the arrest, but have heard tell of the story from a thai friend as well and the accounts do match.
