I'll be in Bangkok and Pattaya this April for a business trip. And I wonder if I can get receipt from taxi, especially songtheaw there to claim my company. My hotel is booked far from the center so I got a little nervous. I'm afraid that nobody understand what I say.

This is certainly one of the more interesting thread queries of the morning. I've never known of any form of written receipts issued by meter-taxis, let alone baht bus drivers, although I've never had the audacity to ask for one either.

One possible solution might be to keep a pen and pocket-book with you at all times and take note of the origin and destination of each journey, the distance, the date and time, and the fare, and it might be acceptible to ask the driver to sign the entry to validate the expense, for a small tip to pay for the extra time taken?

That's a great idea. Thank you for you brilliant advice.

IME most corporate expense accounts have the facility for un-receipted expenses up to a certain percentage or value.

Keeping notes is a smart idea (I always end up under-charging for the no receipt stuff).

Hit one of the department/super stores in the stationary department and pick up a receipt book, then you can write out one on the run and have it signed off. I carry two, one for Thai and a second in Lao for travels there.
