Soup - Where Can I Get Some Good Soup From ?

Featured Replies

I'd really like to find a place where I can buy some good soup from. I'm looking for both fresh and tinned. Personally I am not so keen on Campbell's but prefer Heinz cream of tomato in the tinned variety, it's lovely.

Any ideas ? I went shopping at the Emporium a few days ago and all I could see is Campbells chicken soup which to put it bluntly is crap.

They do have some good cheese there though - Mainland Vintage Cheddar - top notch stuff from New Zealand !

Have to admit you are a pretty cool guy....the whole place is blowing up and there is blood running in the streets, and you are out looking for just the right

brand of canned soup.... :)

Canned soup is such a ripoff here. In Thailand its better to cook your own or go to restaurants (usually better and cheaper than the canned stuff).

Hey there, life goes on, you gotta eat, it couldn't hoit ...

If you're looking for canned western soups, go to Villa and buy Progresso. Also, Foodland and Villa both stock some good frozen soups. Not sure why you're looking for canned soup in a nation that has some of the best soups, like tom yam goong.

I used to eat Progresso a lot in the US and I like it, but at the local prices, not worth it compared to what's available here otherwise.

I've still never been to Villa or Foodland, I'll have to check them out as they're mentioned quite a lot on these forums.

I must admit I don't eat Thai food, only Western and Indian (British style) food. I'll give Progresso a try, thanks to those who brought it to my attention.

Just wondering. Is there a western soup specialty restaurant in Bangkok? Kind of like the Soup Nazi place in Seinfeld? It might work in Bangkok for the expat crowd.

That would be cool, great episode of Seinfeld by the way. It's one of my favourite TV shows of all time, that and Curb Your Enthusiasm which is also a Larry David creation.

I really miss those high quality soup and salad places in San Francisco. Good western soup is not easy to find here. :)

Sorry but mainland vintage is crap and pricey. If you have a makro near you try there 1 kl block off chedder. About 700baht you can cut it up and freeze it. It's also crap but at a lot less money. Im from the uk as well. After a while any chedder taste good.
