Hi, I just got married in Thailand in the Amphur. I have been living here for 10 years.

Actually my 1 year multi non immigrant visa B just ended in the end of January. Just before my visa expired I entered in Thailand and got another last 90 day. In 10 days it will over.

My question: is there a way to get 30 or 60 day extensions in this condition in Thailand or do I have to leave Thailand and apply for new visa first and after applying for a 1 year extension. If I go to Cambodia or Laos, what kind of visa can I get with my marriage certificate?

For the 1 year extension, I didn't transferred the 40k, I am on the way as I didn't know it have to be 3 month old.

You need to have 400,000 in your Thai bankaccount. You can get a 60 day extension from immigration and after that a 1 year extension if you have the 400,000 in a bankaccount in Thailand for 2 months.

For the 60 day extension you need to bring your passport, pass photo, wedding certificate, copy of wife's ID and household registration and the misses herself. At that time inquire for all the requirements for the 1 year extension, it varies a bit from office to office.

Make sure you bring the marriage certificate, you know the fancy one that is given to you. It might be wise to bring a copy of the registration too (just in case). I just did my 60 day extension a couple of days ago, plus had to get a re-entry permit, and will get my one year extension upon returning from the States (based on employment).

I brought a copy of the registration and the IO said that she needed the certificate. I was told when we registered our marriage 3 years ago that it was the registration that was the most important (go figure). She still wanted a copy of the certificate but took a copy of the registration in its place.

Or proof of an income of at least 40,000 baht/month (certified by your Embassy/Consul).

Thanks for all.

So if I understand I have to show 40 k even for the 2 months extension. I few last questions.

I registered my marriage in province close to Nakon Sawan. Do I have to go to Bkk or is there some Immigration Offices in provinces ?

The translator of my certificate of marriage told me when my marriage will be registered I will need to stamps and particularly the marriage document in the foreign ministry. Do I need this stamp to apply to the 2 months extension?

How long does take the process for the 2 months extension? One day or more?

No, for the 60 day extension you don't have to show any money. only for the 1 year extension.

You go to the immirgaiton office for the area where your wife and you live (and your wife is registered on the household registration).

You only need the marriage certificate and will need to apply for the kor lor 3, a copy of the official entry into the marriage register. Immgration wants to see that form now. get it from the amphur, shouldn't cost more than 20 to 40 baht.

The stamps the translator talked about you did before you registered the marriage at the amphur.

EDIT:

Look here for the correct office you have to repeort to: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Immigration-...44#entry3041544

Really, big thanks for all the details and your time.

For the stamps the translator did it the first stamp for the certificate to married from the embassy but he says he have to do it again when the marriage will be registered. We talked in thai I maybe misunderstood something as well my wife but to tell you the truth it not noticed anywhere in the instruction of my embassy.

You only have to visit translation service one time - that is for the Embassy paper to allow marriage - that must be translated into Thai and registered at the MFA to allow the marriage to take place. After the marriage you can, if you want, have the marriage certificate translated and registered at the MFA. This may be useful in the future for dealings in your home country and it makes the document official for international use. But it is not a requirement.

Is the 400K or 40K p/month option only available for married guys?

My annual multi Non Imm O is finishing in 3 months and I was wondering what the options are for a single guy. I'd like to avoid going back to the UK if possible.

Thanks...

You say your multiple entry Non-O visa finishes in 3 months; is this the visa expiry date? If so, are you aware that you can do a border run just before your visa expires and obtain a new 90 day permission to stay on re-entry which would stretch your visa to 15 months?

In terms of 'renewal' options:

1) The 400k/40k option relates to extension of stay obtained from Thai immigration on basis of marriage to Thai or being recognised as the legal father of a Thai child.

2) If you are over 50 you can apply for extension of stay at Thai immigration on the basis of retirement if you meet the requirements - 800k in Thai bank for 2 months prior to first application with bank letter of 65k/month income with embassy income letter.

3) You can obtain 12 month multiple entry Non-O visa on the basis of visiting friends. Very few consulates will issue; Perth is the nearest consulate issuing within the region. You would need to take with you copy of ID card/passport of Thai friend, and good to have short note from friend requesting issue of the visa.

4) Or you could consider studying for a minimum of 4 hours a week at a recognised school, and obtain/renew extension of stay from Thai immigration every 90 days with supporting paperwork from the school. Further information can be found by clicking on the sponsor links at the top of the Visa forum page.
