Zen
For those who had experience hirining your staff through employment agencies such as Adecco, prtr, Manpower, etc...would appreciate if you could share your experiences and thoughts. Are they expensive? Effective? What are the main problems? Are contract staff difficult to manage? Welcome any comments. Thanks.
givenall
Tried three different ones and all basically wanted the money first and as soon as they got the money the employee leaves. Most of time they play together to scam and we have always reported to police but no result. If you have to use pay the finder fee after a month of so

Soutpeel
sounds bad...didnt they have a clause to provide a replacement in case the staff leave? That post sounds very strange as a company will go into the agreement with the agency that if a employee leaves within a certain time period, usually a 90 day probationary period there is no "finders fee"...this is a standard T&C. For contract employees, agencies operate in two ways: 1. They find employees for a companies who will be employed as staff at the company ie head hunting and the above will apply..ie finders fee paid. 2. A company takes on contract employee, who are still employed by the agency and the agency invoices the company every month, usually a date rate + mark up of between 12-15%, therefore if the contractor resigns after a period of time, the agency doesnt get money either on a montly basis. For contract personnel employed per 2., Yes they cost you a bit more than a staff member, but you dont have the adminstrative issues, and you can terminate at any time without consequence. Generally people employed this way have more incentive to perform, as they can be let go at any time.
Zen
Thanks Soutpeel. Contract Employee sounds interesting. But will we be able to control the contract employee? I mean we have to tell the staff what to do, how to do etc. But since they're not employed by us....how much control do we have? And if it is a front line position that requires product knowledge, will there be problems using contract employees?

You have 100% control, for all intents and purposes they are "permanent" employees of your company, the agency will not get involved other than to send you an invoice every month and if the contract employee doesnt perfrom, you can request the agency to send another one, so therefore the onus is on the employee to perform
Zen
Is it very much more expensive to use Contract staff? I would like to use contract staff for entry level sales positions...salary about 6,000-7,000 baht. Is it worth?
