Is Silom Safe?

Featured Replies

Hi, I live in Silom but have been working up north for a month. Due back next week to get my things and move to Surat but read about the bombs and 'evacuation(?)'. Is it still just the Rama 4 intersection to avoid or has Sala Daeng been added to that list. Basically asking is it safe or not? Thanks.

Unpredictable,

- It might all be over by next week.

- Silom might be occupied by the red Shirts.

The best idea is to keep your options open as long as you can, and try to have a "Plan B" ready just in case the worst happens.

Good luck!

I'll do that and wait and see. Thanks for the reply..

My friends are staying @ Le Meridien (Surawong), while waiting for their confirmed flights to Europe... and it looks like one of the safest place in town right now. :)

As some mentioned already, it is unpredictable. Things can ease or get worse within the hour. I would really avoid this area unless I have a very important reason.

It is not safe for now.

Tonight's the night!!!!

Nope, didn't happen. But the Doi Tung near the BTS kicked everyone out at 4pm today and the Central Mall is boarded up. The red shirts might as well be across the street cause they've managed to close up everything.

Maybe the "business owners" at Patpong are keeping them from crossing and disrupting their work.

North Silom/Lumphi Park along with Rajaprasong are still the places to avoid. Same goes Sala Daeng BTS station right next to the multi-coloured.
