Silom Immigration Office

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Silom office is/has been open because of the Red Shirts?

Hi,

I used to work on Silom Rd. for about three years and never heard there was an immigration office there. Maybe you're confusing it with the one on Soi Suanphlu, which is off Sathorn Rd.

The immigration office on Soi Suanphlu now serves only Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos nationals (or something like that). The rest of foreigners now have to go to the new immigration office on Chaeng Wattana Soi 7, even if it's just for the 90 day report.

Cheers,

What Silom office is that? Never knew there was one done there.

New office on Rama IV opened beginning of this year to replace the Suanplu one... BUT, limited services and supposedly only catering for "investors & businesses"

'average' farangs get turned away and sent to the Kafkaesque (but shiny and new) Chaeng Wattana branch.

It's in building next to newish little shopping mall next to Sam Yan MRT, Chamchuri Square. It's on a high floor (can't remember which) in the very tall office building on the right hand side of the mall.

Dunno if it's still open at the moment, but it's far enough from the Reds for it to have the same status as most businesses in mid Silom, which now seems to be 'open as usual' again.

The new office is on Chiang Watanna Road well away from the downtown area. The Rama IV office is One Stop Center for BOI business only - not for normal use.

It is conveniently located for many foreigners working for BOI businesses as it is in a large business district, however the service there seems to be very, very slow (or I was there at a bad time). I lost one full working day from early morning until evening for visa and WP renewal.
