Red-Shirts Must Realise Restraint Has Its Limitations

Yes, coming from the one proud but now a yellow mouthpiece rag called the Nation, it most likely is piffle.
Oh no - he's off again. It says so in the yellow propaganda mag otherwise known as the Nation, so it must be true!
How much more of this hearsay desperation are you going to post here?

Even if Thaksin were to be struck by lightning, don't kid yourself that the problem would disappear until the Thais get their democracy back.

And the broken record played on.

If Thaksin were to be struck by lightning, it would probably hit you as well.

An absolute bargain.

Two for one.

Just a thought.

Religiously as a Buddhist we should not be taking sides - just walk on the centre line. Well I guess that is difficult in a world of wants and greed and ego. One man's ego sparked this fire, one man's wealth finance this trouble. That man must be very proud to cause so much damage. If only that man did not teach the others to be so materialistic to bring himself forward.

Well what can save Thailand today Democracy, Democracy to what extend? That law and order cannot be enforced, where citizens en mass have the power to search and block bully the weak.

Or perhaps a true blue socialist government might work.

Nothing can save Thailand today without bloodshed, it is unfortunate but true. Even if the current government steps down another group will rebel.

First thing first - get law and order back.

The people have to disperse or be dispersed by force. Warn and if the warning is ignored action has to be taken.

Policemen and soldiers losing their weapons should be charged with treason. The Kingdom has issued weapons for the protection of the soldiers and police. They must in turn guard their weapons with their lives. It must be remembered that these weapons can be used against them and against the freedom of the majority in the wrong hands. It is a big joke the whole is laughing at the Thai army and police losing their weapons. A real waste of the tax payers money. Offenders should be shot! Thieves of weapons should be shot too.

Politics cannot be practised if there is no law and order.

Whether there is law and order, again it is for the people to decide. Don't condemn the guys who have to shoot a few of the stubborn ones just to make peace for the country. They were told to disperse or be dispersed by force so is the way for law and order.

The so called "terrorists" are demanding for an Independent Investigation into April 10th.

PTP party have called on the UN for an Independent Investigation.

The government refuses for an Independent Investigation.

Why not get the UN in to investigate as happened say in the Bhutto murder in Pakistan ? Why does Abhisit and his cohorts refuse ?

Well, I think most people around the world can guess.

I don't know what you're talking about. Give us an example of any leader who would be as tolerant as this? Even negotiating with terrorists who won't make a deal, and plunging the city into turmoil.

What's your proposed solution to the current PM? I mean, there isn't gonna suddenly be tons of free money for the rural, or some handout and tons of donations and distribution of wealth.

Not to mention Thaksin only led people to overspend credit limits, go indebt, and even stole money. Anythign returned by him was really merely only their taxes.

. If these villanous reds had power, this would be worse than any Khmer Rouge.

I heard them on the radio tonight, screaming and shouting ...and it sounded IDENTICAL to Hitler himself! And the duped mobs were roaring back. Sick group.

The "rumor" that Thaksin has advanced prostate cancer was posted in the news section here. I think it may be a little more than a rumor. In recent pictures he really does look sick and weak, like he has aged 10 years in 1.

How much more of this hearsay desperation are you going to post here?

Even if Thaksin were to be struck by lightning, don't kid yourself that the problem would disappear until the Thais get their democracy back.

They never completely had it in the sense of democracy we know and think of.

Thanks to everyone for the opinions. Dove's post gives some interesting points to consider. There is much for everyone to learn here about restraint, as that is where this post started. Actions speak louder than words and the reds have definitely shown a very violent side mixed in with many who are mostly non-violent.

When watching the movie Gandhi recently, it was made clear by Gandhi's character that in their campaigns of civil disobedience, not one person could be violent or wish violence against the British or those inflicting pain - and even death - or the plan would backfire, as he knew that the Government has lawful right and duty to use violence to combat violence and anarchy, but only if there was no violence at all, zero, zilch, on the part of the protesters, would those seeking independence from the British Raj be able to garner popular support, as they would see only brutality coming from one side and so the perpetrators would be shamed.

In the current situation I see no reason evident for the Government to be ashamed for using force, and there has been arguably almost too much restraint. On the other side of the tire and bamboo barriers, it looks from the perspective of an outsider such as myself, like the reds definitely need to learn restraint lest they be seen as treasonous and preposterous by the nation, and the populace around the world.

It is my sincere desire to see a return to peace in Thailand, with a healthy respect for law and order, and truly peaceful protesting definitely is allowed - and applauded around the world - for those who would like to democratically create change in the laws of the land.

God bless Thailand with peace and prosperity.

Vishnu is all bountiful and beautiful. Love endures.

Rama Bolo. Sita Bolo. Jai Hanuman.

Love to you. Find something to appreciate ASAP so you can feel good and create what you want.

Namaste

here some news what goes on in Thailand and about the credibility the current government has left:

Bangkok, April 27 (ANI): At a meeting attended by governors of 61 provinces, Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has requested them to inform the residents of their constituencies of the " terrorist behaviour" of some Red Shirt leaders.

...

Mr Chatree Yooprasert, secretary-general of the Association of Provincial Administrative Organisations said, "What is certain is that the government is wrong. This government has long lost its legitimacy to run the country. They should either resign or dissolve the House to solve the country's crisis."

He said that the government must stop interfering with the media and allow it to function freely. He said that the Prime Minister's requests was an attempt to pressurise local bodies. (ANI)

http://in.news.yahoo.com/139/20100426/874/...opposition.html

Not surprising. It's the political/business incestuousness of the provinces that is the main problem isn't it?

If the provincial administration withdraw their allegiance with the government then isn't much to govern left for the government.

Maybe Abhisit can order to dissolve the people and elect himself a new fellowship that listen to him and obey his orders.

maybe he should withdraw funding from central government for those governors who do not do their jobs and feel that they have a right to second guess the guy who puts food on their families table?

Yes, the PM can declare everybody who disagrees with him to an enemy of a state and not Thai anymore, the PM will maintain a overwhelming majority and support in his camp.

The question is how big is this camp at all and what has it in common with all the Thai people.

We make the power supply switching for the ADS. I've seen the demos when visiting Raytheon. A few of these at each end 100 yards from the Red protest sites and they will have abandoned camp in 20 minutes guaranteed. At that point the tanks roll and smash the barricades and start the clean-up. This has gone on long enough and now is spreading like a cancer to other cities. If breaking up the fortress inflames things and they have to get it on, so be it. But this "occupation" grinding the country to a halt has to be broken as humanely as possible, but broken it must be.

http://www.raytheon.com/newsroom/feature/ads_03-08/

An arm dealer trying to profit from this situation?

Smart sales person.

Systems like ADS are not arms. But a non-lethal means of restoring order and re-taking occupied territory. Rubber bullets can kill if they enter an eye socket or other soft area. A tear gas canister to the head can be lethal as can the gas itself to the very young, old, or those with respiratory conditions. There are new, better ways of crowd dispersal and the govt. needs to be the adult in the household and start dishing out some spankings.

You don't throw a tantrum, take over the house, and start blowing things up because you didn't get your way. Is there a father in the house or a mouse?

Good....afer the GT200 we will have the ADS... Good, to spoil the budget through gadgets instead to modernize agriculture and build infrastructures for decentralising Industries in Northern Thailand. Good, one more way to distribute bribes to corrupted people....

he is under pressure from reds there, if he is not red/Phua Thai himself, then its very likely he has to say that about the government to save his and his families skin

however he does get his wages from central government and if he does not support his bosses in Bangkok, and do the job he is paid to do then he should be fired or if he is scared to enforce the law then he should do the honourable thing and resign.

simply put, if you had an employee who talked back, undermined your authority with other employees and would not do the job he was paid to do, would you fire him or keep him on?

You are enlightening one of the thai issue: governor are designated by Government. At the difference of USA, France (president of Regions), the Thai administration is too much centralised: there must be some kind of local democracy, with Elected Governors responsible in front of a local Assembly with a decentralised Budget for organising the local infrastructures.

In front of the locally elected Governor/president, the government is designating a representative (In France the "Prefet")

He is not only one governor from one province but a representative of the association of all 61 provincial governors.

He isn't the only one who called the Government action wrong, the censorship of the media unconstitutional and recommend to Abhisit to step down.

Such voices come from many direction and international observers too, not all of them are red supporters or blackmailed/threaten by the reds to do so.

In other words the PM cannot decalre anyone who don't agree with him to an enemy of the state but should start to questioning himself. Maybe he is the one who act wrong here if the number of people that oppose him is growing.

Chatree Yooprasert. Do you mean the guy who led a PPP organised demo against the PAD while vice president of the PAO organization. By the way is he a governor or PAO representative and if so what party does he represent or when did Witthaya Phiophong cease being governor of Ayuthaya?

If he is indeed now governor that means he is a career bureacrat slected by the giovernment to represent them in the province. Quite why the giovernment would select someone so closely linked to TRT and PPP is beyind me but if they did they have only themselves to blame for this guy criticising them from the standpoint of a (seen as) neutral position. If however he is a PAO representative that would mean he is just another partisan player making an expected comment. His actual position needs to be clarified first as it could just be bad reporting (again) that turns an apple into a pear or a partisan representative into a neutral civil servant.

Abhist is always right, right?

And of course anybody opposed Abhisit is the enemy, no reason to listen to them. And the government should only select people who are loyal to Abhisit.

I think you're assuming that policy under PM-Abhisit, has remained unchanged from that of previous TRT/PPP-administrations, where lack of loyalty to "the boss" meant that some good neutral executives were fired or, in the case of the auditor-general who foolishly kept on auditing & finding corruption, locked out of her office for a couple of years ! :D

simply put, if you had an employee who talked back, undermined your authority with other employees and would not do the job he was paid to do, would you fire him or keep him on?

Same thought here.

Ayutthaya was one of the staging grounds before they swept down into Bangkok,

I am SURE he saw their assembled power as a mob and realized without army help he is toast.

So he will hedge his bets until he has enough back up, or is removed from that decision making position.

Well, if there was no Red thugs around we wouldn't even need to consider it currently and the money could be used for support to modernize the agriculture and build better infrastructure...

If they wanna make their bed, as is their right, they cannot complain if they get to lie in it.

Even last midnight there were still more than 20'000 people down at Rajparasong. Maybe there are some few black armed soldiers waiting for battle somewhere but there are still more than 20'000 unarmed peaceful human beings around.

There's 10 million people in Bangkok. There's no shortage of weapons in the red camp from slingshots to grenades, and the reds have made no attempt to find them, they are sheltering them. See Veera's comments about "we are backed by an armed force".

Got to wonder whether Thaksin's PR firm pays some of the people posting in this forum. If not, there are a lot more loonies in this world than I had previously imagined.

here some news what goes on in Thailand and about the credibility the current government has left:

(ANI)

Mr Chatree Yooprasert is a governor in Ayutthaya.

he is under pressure from reds there, if he is not red/Phua Thai himself, then its very likely he has to say that about the government to save his and his families skin

however he does get his wages from central government and if he does not support his bosses in Bangkok, and do the job he is paid to do then he should be fired or if he is scared to enforce the law then he should do the honourable thing and resign.

Under the 1997 constitution, local bodies were supposed to be legally in charge of 25% of their designated budget in 5 years but Thaksin deliberately delayed any enforcement of that stipulation.

:)

Abhist is always right, right?

And of course anybody opposed Abhisit is the enemy, no reason to listen to them. And the government should only select people who are loyal to Abhisit.

Where did I mention Abhisit?

I tried to ask legitmiate questions as to whether this dude was a governor as mentioned or a partisan representative as he was until at least a year ago. I dont honestly know the answer and hoped that someone may actually suppl;y it for me. I would also be interested to see how accurate the reproting was as that is something which interests me.

Some people seem to have obsession with things that are bnothing to do with a comment

Chavalit condemns Abhisit, Suthep as 'murderers'

Pheu Thai Party chairman Chavalit Yongchaiyudh Tuesday lashed out at the government for "ordering the people killed" and for framing him as the mastermind behind the "terrorists" amid the protests.

"I condenm both of you, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban, as murderers," Chavalist said in a bid to deflect his charges.

-- The Nation 2010-04-27

its two days since Abhisit put Chavalit and Seh Daeng in the same sentence and intimated they were conspirators in a much bigger than the red movement alone to overthrow the monarchy and make Thiland a republic

now consider this: Chavilit is an ex prime minister of Thailand and he is the current chairman of the Red Phua Thai party

a prime minister in waiting ....... (waiting for Thaksins orders) and after having had two days to considering a sharp, thrusting response to offer to the worlds press, this is the best comeback he can offer ?

"I condenm both of you, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban, as murderers,"

its not classic Winston Churchill is it?

please Buddha save us all............
