whistleblower
I have never been able to understand how people in Thailand get found guilty of a crime, sentenced to prison then are allowed bail?. Can anyone explain this law?

Tigs
The problem is that they are never likely to go back to the clink and can now reoffend. If they do not return to Jail then the law fund gets another 500K each for the 6 that they let go yesterday. Means they make more money than if they were in prison. The lawyers will make sure that the appeal takes about three years, sooner if a sympathetic government take power.

iwad2010
I can understand bailing someone who has been charged (innocent till proven) but not the notion of bailed when given a prison sentence! But, as i'm sure we are all aware, wealth & influence pay a major roll in seeing that 'justice' is not served. This is a world wide problem (OJ simson, multinationals, etc etc). Thailand is a bit more up-front with it. I know a friend whos wife was shot and killed by a 'gangsta' in issan. A bit of blood money, and bobs-your-uncle, he's out and about within days.
