Again as in the above post; the report is from ASTV do you actually consider ASTV a reliable impartial source of news? Your post says several other media please say who they are or retract your post.

Could you please inform me and others as to your right to demand an explanation.

Your high office is where ?

If you can't provide details of your source you are spreading disinformation so provide the details or retract your post - what is your problem with that? Have you been spreading porkies?

Try reading some other topics maybe that will clear it up for you.

Fires ablaze in Bonkai; at least 10 shops on fire; looting of other shops; banks being stormed.

Peaceful Red Shirt activities ?

You have still not provided the names of the media and are evading the question. I have reported your post as I don't believe that people like you should be allowed to spread rumours and disinformation whilst many Thais are being killed on the streets and Bangkok is in chaos.

In that case you will have to report Thaivisa and some mods too, just check what they say in the closed topics managed by them.

Death toll more than just statistics

By Pravit Rojanaphruk

The Nation

Published on May 19, 2010

How many more mornings are we going to be greeted by more deaths and casualties, coldly and helplessly observing them like nothing more than statistics?

Since April 10, more than 60 people have been killed. At least 36 civilians have died since the second round of clashes erupted last Thursday night. Yesterday, the government ordered three more public holidays in Bangkok so they could get rid of the tens of thousands of protesters holding out at Rajprasong intersection and elsewhere.

Yet some Thais remain indifferent. They go about their daily business as normal, dining and chatting happily while killings continue.

In fact, those opposed to the red-shirt movement even seem to be delighted that the Army is liberally firing live bullets. Few ask where the water cannons, the tear gas, batons, anti-riot police and ear-shattering anti-riot sound disseminator vehicles that the government "promised" to use are. Why are they not being used as weapons to disperse the crowds?

A female yellow-shirt radio host at FM 97.75 station told listeners on Monday morning that 30 deaths "wasn't that much". Newspapers like ASTV-Manager Daily called for the government on Monday to finish off the enemy and urged Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva "not to lose heart".

"Please be more swift and decisive," the paper advised Abhisit.

As more people are being killed, we must acknowledge that everybody, no matter what colours they wear, have friends, relatives and loved ones.

Their loss is not just the loss of a handful, but the loss of society as a whole. Deaths beget hatred and revenge, and hatred and revenge only bring death and destruction.

It cannot be denied that the red-shirt leaders are partially responsible for the deaths of their own followers, but the government too should act more responsibly. Their decision to use war weapons instead of dialogue has already led to so many deaths.

The government, which has armed forces at its disposal, has the responsibility to protect the right to life of its citizens. It has cruelly chosen to abdicate this responsibility and people who are affected by it can no longer regard the regime as legitimate.

More people will certainly be killed in the hours ahead. We can no longer count on the wisdom of the government or the red-shirt leaders, and do what we can, as individuals and collectively, to try and end the senseless killings in Bangkok before civil war engulfs other parts of the country.

Those who believe that violently ending the protest at the Rajprasong intersection and elsewhere would solve the current political crisis should rethink. There are far too many red shirts now and the killings will only increase. The protesters' sense of camaraderie and conviction are strong enough, and even though some of their leaders like Thaksin Shinwatra and those at the Rajprasong rally stage are deeply flawed, the red shirts' aspiration for an equal political voice and more equitable social and economic opportunities are real.

On Monday night, I visited Klong Toei, where the red shirts have set up a new protest site over the past three nights. Thousands gathered there said they no longer believed in the government.

I can't see how the red shirts would simply return home and forget what has happened over the past month, especially since the comrades and loved ones they lost are not mere statistics to them.

I thought the whole point of these protests were early elections? Abhisit gave them that. A year early no less. They turned it down. I'm convinced unless their dear leader is put back into power immediately, they will continue to destroy Bangkok.

He also said that that all Red Shirts and others (including General Chavalit and members of Phuea Thai) must surrender themselves to the Police to face trumped up charges of treason and trying to overthrow the monarchy without any guarantee of bail. Even though they are trumped up charges without being allowed bail they could expect to spend years in gaol waiting trial. All parties accused are filing charges of criminal libel and lesse majeste against Abhisit which he will have to face after he loses his parliamentary immunity following the dissolution of the Democrat Party. If found guilty he could face a life sentence (25 years)

It is interesting to see the government folk have finally started using water cannon to clean the streets. About 4 or 5 weeks too late.

Send in the street cleaners and follow through with the vermin control to find the ones scurrying like rats from the bravado they were spewing on stage.

The defiant crowd presented another snag after Thaksin allegedly made demands that could not be met by the government. According to a government source, Thaksin, through his representatives, appeared uninterested in an early end to the red shirts' protests and riots as long as he did not get what he wanted.

Wasn't a deceased ex-general saying the same thing ?

I for one don't know as he was giving an interview to a reporter when he was murdered and I don't know what was said

Ch3: 30 teenagers stormed into Office of Narcotics Control Board at Din Daeng Intersection and set fire to it /via

This must be the peaceful reds

Maybe the yaa baa using members, or those they may have recruited from the slums, may have been promised this building in return for their role in creating chaos on the streets.

?????? it is neither red nor yellow it is gangs of youths taking advantage of the situation. I foresee a lot more of this. I do recall someone saying something to the effect of if I lose control i will resign, not even twisting the truth, fibbing just barefaced. He is living in fantasy land.

KissDassi,

I am interested in knowing who, why and where the boy was murdered.

Please provide the information as you have misconstrued it.

Thanks,

I am adherent of Seh Daeng's change-through-peace-and-music policy.

The child refused to leave the area of a army roadblock.

The soldiers told him it was dangerous and to stay clear,

apparently he didn't listen, or go far enough away or the right direction.

A drunk Red van driver trying to deliver knives and supplies to the red rally,

tried to ram the roadblock and the soldiers tried to shoot out the tires,

and then shot the driver to stop him. Coming at them at speed with a large vehicle.

The child apparently was down field and accidentally took a round or a ricochet.

Death by misadventure, acidental death etc. Maybe 3rd degree manslaughter.

Intentional murder it was not by all reports,

except Kisdani repeating this line over and over.

The van driver was drunk and drove at/into an army roadblock. His tyres were shot out and he himself was then shot. Two others nearby, a small boy and a taxi driver were also shot.

Can you please give your source to confirm your statement that the van driver was delivering knives and supplies to the Red rally?

Jatuporn and Arisman Have Fled after Soldiers Reclaim Ratchaprasong

ASTV and several other media are reporting that key red-shirt core leaders including Jatuporn Promphan, Arisman Pongruengrong and Suporn Attawong have fled the Ratchaprasong protest site after soldiers were able to reclaim the Sarasin intersection.

The sewer rats are running true to form, the poor bloody pawns have no-where to run.

Epitomises the cowardly scum Thaksin and his scum really are.

Al Jazeera reporter Wayne Hayes on Rama IV: "Shots are being fired BACK at the soldiers!" /via @Saksith

Well fancy that!

Any red cheerleader care to comment?

If I had put up with a few days of trying to hide from Army snipers and then managed to get hold of a gun I assure I too (and most other people) would shoot back.

"Innocent" civilian peace loving protestors would not pick up a gun and start shooting at soldiers and police.

He's miming shooting to the sound of the firecrackers he may have a death wish or is too young to know better.

What is he holding? Any opinions on that? It certainly looks like a gun but not one that I am aware would shoot auto fire as his motions would indicate he is doing.

Have looked at a slightly larger version on youtube and enlarged the scene - difficult to say what type of rifle it is due to bad quality, however, it is clearly a rifle with what I assume, is a silencer attached he is clearly not shooting automatic fire, but just erratically at whoever is facing him pressing the trigger numerous times

And do you/would you hold a rifle with both hands on the shoulder end of the butt, would you have the strength or even a good enough grip to do so? Rubbish.

If reports are true about uprisings up north ... one has to wonder if the authorities will take the same approach as LA did and let people burn down their own neighborhoods rather than go in and risk the lives of authorities and avoid causing death & injury while enforcing the law.

The reds should have gone home while they had a good enough "victory" in their pocket, but instead, the greedy cretins valued the potential content in their pockets higher than the life of their ignorant supporters.

Nobody (except the red manipulators themselves) wants dead Thais in the streets, but this will never end unless those cowards that use women and children as human shields are stopped.

This is not about filing the pockets of the people on the streets and we are not ignorant. This is about justice and democracy for the followers of the only Prime Minister to be re-elected in the history of the constitutional Monarchy, the greatest leader of our time. The leader did nothing but good for the poor of Thailand, and was ousted unconstitutionally.

The use of human shields is but a figment of your imagination, probably an imagination filled with too much nonesense chatter with foreigners who know nothing.

Go away, read history and then you may think it is a worthy cause.

I love the feature on youtube of uploading ones imagination

On the TV footage the first pictures of the boy are taken with him facing the camera i.e. with the camera crew outside (in front) of the barricade, that's why he's standing on top - otherwise you wouldn't see him. The next pictures are taken from behind the boy with the camera crew directly behind him, in fact twice the shoulder of another cameraman gets briefly beteen the camera and the boy.

7.31am - At Sala Daeng intersection, troops are told to fire at protesters only if they fire at the troops. The protesters are seen retreating to Rajprasong area

How about also enabling troops to shoot rowdies who are pouring gas/petro around buildings and train stations? That's been a big reason why things have gotten so bad. Troops are being given such restrictive orders, that they're marginally functional. It's called being hamstrung.

10.25am - Convicted ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra calls for the government to re-open a talk with red shirts leaders. He says he has never been involving with the protests.

Right, and Thaksin might say he's never used a mobile phone and people are supposed to believe him? The man is a pathological liar. If he ever says anything truthful, that would be headline news.

12:18am - TAN: Confirmed rumors that Arisman has been arrested; awaiting confirmation!

cuff him, book him, toss him in jail - and NO BAIL and NO LENIENCY! Same for all the other scoundrels. They gambled that destroying downtown Bangkok would get them what Thaksin wanted - AND THEY LOST THE WAGER! Payback time is fast approaching.

Quote from the nation twitter: Reports indicate that key leader of the red-shirt movement Jatuporn Promphan is expected to turn himself in at the National Police Office. Key Pheu Thai MPs will act as witnesses to ensure the safety of the red-shirt leader. UnQuote

Let's hope this is true because if it is, this thing will be over by this afternoon, except for the hunting down of the black shirts.

I'm for the Govt offering Jatuporn a deal in return for his cooperation in exposing Thaksin and his role in financing and orchestrating this fiasco. I think he will flip, especially if they let him keep the money they discovered in his bank account.

Looks like this guy was running, and didn't turn himself in? What a chicken. Left his "supporters" back there while the leader flees.

Before I felt these guys needed to do some real time in prison but now I really am wondering if they should really be facing the death penalty for what they have created and done to the people inside and outside the barricade .... actually I don't wish death on anyone but the point is their crimes really have reached the top now.

Not sure what I am seeing on TV now ... soldiers have prisoners handcuffed and also blindfolded. Anyone seeing this and can interpret Thai? Are the protecting them from tear gas or is this for security reasons or something else?

Also showing they have taken a couple monks (at least appear to be) into custody.
