The US has already offered evacuation for NGOS like USAID etc...

Whoppee.

By "etc..." do you mean World Vision and all of those other US spies?

If it really happens that would be the one good outcome from all this mess.

If you get shot at with live bullets what would you do ?

Surrender, go home.

So would i but we are not protesting at perceived injustice

Niether are the redshirts! If they were protesting about Democracy they'd have taken the deal they were offered TWICE. They are protesting for Thaksin. They are protesting for $$.

The goal of returning Thaksin to power is stated often and by most if not all of them.

What SHOULD be the underpinning of the reds which is social inequality and lack of financial opportunity simply isn't really the issue they are there! If it were they would discuss it! If it were then their political arm the PTP would talk about it. Sadly for PTP, Abhisit took that away from them when he did MORE for the rural poor than Thaksin ever did!

BTW Pornsasi ---- you earlier used the "I have seen reports of the army firing at anything that moves" but you deny any report that shows the reds to be exchanging fire with the army. You deny any report that shows the reds in a bad light at all, for the most part!

Wow you are truely of your rocker

Get a grip, people are detroying your country

and you support it, you are as bad as the people

burning the tires, trying to blow up a gas tanker.

They havent killed anyone as far as i know

If you get shot at with live bullets what would you do ?

There is madness on both sides , i grant it to you

They haven't killed anyone yet, give me a break, like they have nothing to do with this situation. They are just poor innocent bystanders right?

Hog wash, their actions put others at risk, no escaping that. Do not behave completely reckless and then act surprised people get killed.

So without going down the lines of who's "ultimately" responsible for any of the deaths, which is completely futile. What's the score?

Its not a small spot at all! Please stop ur bulltalk! Several blocks in all directions are now blocked. Loads of people are prisoners in their own home. Loads of people suffering from electricity and water cuts.

Are you there now ?

Your electricity and water is cut ?

Not in my house, which is close to Rama 4. But all roads out of here is blocked. Reds block the roads with taxis, tyres and so on. I cant get food delivered. In my office all electricity is closed since thursday at 4pm.

What the heck would the US need to spy on in Thailand? GoGO bars?

What's wrong with these people?! Don't they have work?!?

Or is sitting around being shot and receiving 500bht a day good enough.

Sad sad sad and pathetic.

Go home red shirts!

I think it's time for some tanks to run them over...they want red..let's give them red.

I wonder how board members who post comments like this on here manage to turn on a computer?

Posters calling for violence and deaths should be blocked from Thai Visa, in my opinion. No matter which way you look at this situation how can you hope for the deaths of thousands of people, many of whom are women and children?

You are the pathetic one.

Let me ask you this. If you are a parent, would you let your child protest?!?

Yes..exactly my point. These so called parents are stupid and reckless.

free channel (formerly channel 11) has ALL of the footage the pornsasi doesn't want you to see. thats why the reds bombed it in april, you recall right? Shows all the m79s, the guns, the fighting.

a document was just released showing how thaksin has hired lawyers to come and document any deaths (red only of course) so they can file to international agencies and they want AS MANY DEATHS as possible, as this makes a case and the appearance of martyrs. those thugs and grannies down there at the site sure are playing into the bait too. either they're just plain stupid, or they value money as god above buddha, and can't think past the end of their noses. I have no sympathy for any of them. They are ruining our lives and livelihood and everything we've sunk into bangkok here.

Friend said the food delivery boy would not come and deliver food

Is this for real? blink.gif

If the friend is inside the "red zone" then yes.

taxi's on the outskirts won't go anywhere near "downtown". emporium is "last stop", as is rama 9 / racha intersection.

Tell me . Why are you so involved as a farang against the reds .

I was in Bangkok 3 weeks ago , everywhere perfectly normal

Did not go to the protest area , which is a very small spot in BKK

What do you care ?

65+ MILLION people are affected by the violent mob illegally occupying part of BKK. Millions of people in BKK are affected. Your claim to have been in BKK three weeks ago has absolutely no bearing on this. Things have changed in three weeks. Right now we have armed reds burning things in the city. Trying to destroy a gas tanker in Soi Ngam Duplii. People that cannot get to Dr's and hospitals. People worried about their loved ones. My BF works very close to the violence and very close to PM Abhisit's house that is always at risk.

Your making this out to be nothing (because that would make the reds look bad! is sickening!)

Remember their ID cards are being held by them..think you can just easily leave?

I don't understand what the big dilema about the id card is. Simply leave, get another id card at a later date. Why bother even telling the leaders you're leaving. :)

Ever heard of "We know who you are, we know where you live, we even have a photo of you!" why do you we rejected the Australia Card?

reds jerking themselves off :)

Since you will not vote at next election , your views are unimportant :D

My wife will, my views are quite important to her.

She would likely vote as I ask, not order, ask,

because I have a better informed opinion on the players involved

than she does, and clearly state my reasons so she understands.

It will be her vote, but better informed for having compared

BOTH of our views as a family.

Watched a CNN report this evening - reporter was talking ta women and a 9 year old - the women said she wouls stay and die and the 9 year old when asked if she new why she was there answered oh is so much fun, music .....

Than the usual babble about the poor and having only stones and sling shots bla bla bla at that moment I saw a black shirt walking through the background with an AK47 over his shoulder - not s comment made by the reporter

To call this journalism would be a joke - apparently the underdog makes more money. All Americans and Europeans are fed totally false news - I thnk the army should arrest the journalists and kick them out of the country

I care because my Thai wife and Thai 3 month old baby were forced out of our residence when my wife and I witnessed a redshirt in front of our building shooting an automatic rifle. I am not making this up. We have been under siege for more than a month now.

And don't confuse yourself, my wife is as Issan as Issan gets. She has worked very hard to pull herself out of the poverty she grew up in. We are not elitist. I work for a Thai university and make a humble salary trying to help educated Thai students.

3 weeks ago things were not perfectly normal. My 3 month old baby was being scared out of her sleep by rockets the reds were firing right outside my window every night. My wife was hassled by the redshirts while she was simply trying to reach our home. My thai mother in-law (who lives with us and I support) could not get to the hospital when she was sick because the redshirts blocked the entrance.

If you don't care about me because I am farang fine, makes not differnce to me really, but do be presumptuous that you know everyone's situation. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and most of mine happens to be Thai.

So do I have your permission to care about my family's well being?

obviously ..

Well if you dont make this up then you surely have good reasons to dislike the reds .

I respect that . I would want this protest to end as well , both sides negociate and the reds

go home . I saw some hope when the PM proposed his roadmap and all the red leaders except

SD and Arisman approved it and I posted along that line .

Just hope the madness ends soon , without further loss of life .

Good luck ....

:) Would it be accurate to say that no streets are safe in Bangkok now?

Friend said the food delivery boy would not come and deliver food, how many farangs must be trapped in their condos/

The US has already offered evacuation for NGOS like USAID etc...I wouldl be getting outta there as soon as is humanly possible and wish all a safe return to their respective countries...What help are Embassies if they are closed, who is being protected and by whom.....mobs are reportedly now burning and looting, makes Rawanda look tame to an extent...

No, that would not be accurate. Bangkok is a huge metropolitan area with perhaps 10 million people. I am living in the East of Bangkok, near the new airport Suvannaphum and here all is quiet. If t wasn't for TV and Internet, I would have no idea that there is a war in Rajaprasong and Rama 4.

The issue is that people who have not lived here don't know how big this city is. I think 10 million might even be conservative. I live about 3 kilometres from the edge of the conflict and can't hear or see anything from my 16th floor condo. But if it faced in the direction, I would see smoke for sure. However, the resistance is definitely spreading, and anyone who thinks that it is only an Issan farmers fight is kidding themselves. The poor people are rising now in the suburbs like Klong Teuy for instance. It is a social revolution, whatever you think, and Thaksin is fading out of the picture for many. People will need to take extra care outside the protest areas, as any inflammatory behaviour may provoke undesirable consequences.

I think people should be aware that it has been pushed to a level beyond being a demonstration. It is now an uprising of unprecedented level of support and success. This article is most interesting I think and describes the Red Shirts as a "a peculiar cross class alliance" in a "Deformed class war." Reasonable observation as far as I see it.

Your wife is well informed too bad the rest of the red shirts are not. Having loud speakers blaring into your ears 24/7 telling you the govt is bad is nothing more than brainwashing and not being informed. Red shirts followers wake up and smell the truth!

At least be informed and then make your choice!

I stop driving alone to town from weeks ago, but taxi also won't go to Silom, Sathorn, Soi Chidlom . . . BTS, MRT were the only solution !

Re: the child sitting on the tires/barricade ...

It matters not whether you support the protesters-cum-terrorists or not, but to suggest that using that boy as a shield was justified is insane.

If you read the Thai posts about it online (I'm sure all you arm-chair politicians read Thai) you'll see that every post looks like this ...

ควายแดงถ่อยมาก = "red-water-buffalo-(is)-very-despicable" and, yes, that refers to the father or uncle holding the child.

Believe it or not the 66.45 million Thais that are NOT protesting today are just like real people. They are pretty horrified by the images of parents endangering their own kids.

Would you call that boy looking over the tyres a human shield.I suggest you print something factual. My thioughts would have been,he is showing the boy to the soldiers to show that he is there.

NOW

If someone had said the boy should not be there i would have agreed but dont spout crap on here

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I get less and less surprised by farangs on here, with their blinkered views and make up stories. In fact i would suggest a lack of reality too.

Why not keep racism and personal attacks out of this. :)

We're in China town and its pretty safe over here. From what I can gather, once you get past Hua Lamphong Railway Station its safe.

The violence is pretty much contained Red Zone areas (see maps in previous post) on this site. Also the Sukhumvit areas where a lot of foreigners live, past Soi 4 is unaffected.

The real blackshirts (MiB) don't use AK-47s. Only the fake ones do. (I'm not joking) :)

Do you mean a red guard? (Predominately black attire with red scarf)

whay are the military not using water cannons as they do in the west??? all it would take is a few and you would blow them all out of the area as the tropps advance behind

I'm f u l l y in favor of water cannons, the most effective means to disperse any crowd or any mob .WHY the government is not using them and using them correctly (!) is something nobody will ever comprehend. Abhisit has a website which is www.abhisit.org. In the past I thought he would sometimes look at emails arriving there, but obviously he doesn't. I have sent emails there many times suggesting to use water cannons as a very effective and legitimate means, but helas... I'm just another stupid fool. Showing restraint is one thing, but instead that he and his government control the Reds, the Reds are already all the time controlling the government. Sad story, because much misery could have been averted.

My wife is thai from central isaan Korat and is 100% pro Thaksin . I am not .

When Abhisit proposed his roadmap i told her the PM is not so bad

after all , he must be given a chance .

She agreed . But now i dont know what to tell her myself .

I dont know what to think ...

As for her vote she always do what she wants anyway
