Visa Stamp

Recommended Posts

I just got my 60 day tourist visa from the Thai consulate.  Why did they put the stamp on page 9 of my 4 month old passport.  The last stamp on my passport is on page 5. So they skipped 6,7,8 and put it on 9. WHY?

They do it to keep themselves in a job ! Think about it, next time you are leaving/entering the kingdom it will take longer for them to find the last stamp, thus creating a queue behind you, the bigger the queues the more it justifies them being there !

If every single immigration officer was efficient in ensuring that the stamps where all in order how small would the queues be ? How many would be out of a job ?

That’s my theory anyway :o

I think the Thai immigration passport stamps allocations are better placed than most. Some immigration officials in other countries delight in spoiling one page with one stamp which restricts the placing of other large work permit / residence visa stamps in your passport.

I used to do 30 day runs with someone in town and he was always insistant, to the point of being rude, to immigration as to exactly where he wanted the stamps put. That way he wouldn't have to renew his passport so often. He'd worked out to the millimeter exactly how many stamps his passport would hold if placed in the exact position.

Told him quite often that I thought he was pushing his luck.

He need not renew the passport when it is startingto get full...just add more pages.

Never p--- o-- and Immigration officer...they have more power than God, at least over you.

Not all can have passport pages added.
