Hi,

I know questions of this type have been asked before but I can't find a properly comprehensive answer, so would appreciate any help.

Arriving in BKK airport on Jun24 at like 19:00, planning on heading straight to Laos. Our research leads us to believe that best option would be AirAsia to Udon Thani then buses across border to vientiane and then to van vieng. AirAsia schedule advertises early morning flight to UTH but when booking it only gives option of 16:15 flight arriving at 17:20. So basically my questions are:

1. Have we chosen the most efficient way of getting there?

2. What time does the visa office close on the border?

3. Any other advice?

Thanks so much in advance,

muffinman

Why are you heading straight to Laos? To get a visa? to visit Lao?

There is a 6am flight out of Dom Muang every morning on Nok Air

in the same price range as AirAsia

Arriving at 19:00, I would be probably take the 21:00 bus from the airport to Nong Khai. It arrives about 6:00am, as I recall.

I believe the border is open from 06:00-22:00. However, unless already holding a Laos visa, I would not rely on making it across with a few minutes to spare.

You might ask a mod to move this to the travel forum .....

I don't know your itenerary but if you cross the border back into Thailand from Laos you will only get a 15 day stamp. (unless you apply for a tourist visa in Laos.)

We have double entry tourist visas so that's all good.

Thanks again.

Mod feel free to move if this is in the wrong place
