Any of the public parks have badminton courts where I could just show up to find a game?

Apparently there is a proper court or two at Lumpini, but I haven't found them. Plenty just play a bit of casual badminton outside though, but not the type of thing you can just show up and join in. If you want proper badminton (indoor, like a sauna) there are some groups where you pay about 150 for 2 hours of good hard doubles games. One is in Phra Kanong.

if you can't read Thai you'll need some help to see the addresses...but there are lots and lots of clubs in Bangkok..

The Thais call it a buffet.... they play for 2 or more hours in the evenings and its just a turn pay and play in the large group...
