We're comming up to Bangkok on the 20th for a few days to sort out some visa issues at the UK Embassy. I haven't visited Bangkok in about nine months and given curfews and the post crisis situation I'm unsure where to stay. Ordainarily I might have stayed at the Dynasty Grande (around baht 2,700) but this time I don't fancy lower Sukhumvit.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent hotel that's fairly central to the UK Embassy and Silom/Rama 4, circa Baht 3,000 a night?

Thanks in advance

Try www.presidenpark.com which is on Sukhumvit Soi 34 but near to Rama 4 or www.adelphigrande.com which is on Sukhumvit Soi 41 or www.admiralpremier.com on Soi 23 located in close vicinity to BTS Asoke & MRT Sukhumvit.

Thnaks for that guys, appreciated.

BTW, I have no issue with Dynasty Grande, just don't fancy Lower Sucky this time around, have spent far too much time there in my past and need to try somewhere new.

hi

check out Rembrandt hotel ...

Thanks, that brings back some memories, haven't stayed there for seven years or more, used to be very good at one time, maybe worth a revisit.

With tourism so low, there are some amazing deals at the moment, for 3,000 baht you could stay at one of a number of 5 star hotels here.

For 3,000 baht a night you could stay at The Metropolitan, The Dusit Thani, The Millenium. Take a look at Latestays (.com) and take your pick!

You're right, Banyan Tree for three thousand is an excellent deal, thanks for reminding me about Latestays.

Another option is to use Priceline and choose 5 star and the river area. I have friends who have done this several times and they always get the Marriott serviced apartments on Suan Phlu, which is Sathorn Soi 3. It's a really nice place and they always end up with a one bedroom apartment. With Priceline you don't know what hotel you will get but worse case scenario if you don't end up getting this Marriott you will still have a 5 star hotel somewhere near the river, Silom or Sathorn at a substantial savings even off the discount rates. Start your bidding maybe 30% lower than the cheapest rate you can find online and if you don't get anything you can rebid every 24 hours. I have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels around the world at amazing prices using Priceline.
