Cool. It took me a while to read all of the visa things which were rather confusing to someone who has never been other than for 3 weeks in 1993...

I want to go to Tahiland and rent an apartment in Bangkok for 1 year. I am just a tourist. I believe these are the steps from what I read:

1) Apply here in the USA for a double entry visa and receive it before I travel

2) Have the visa in my passport and make sure the officer sees it

3) Before the 60 days is up, pay B1900 for another 30 days

4) Before that 30 days ends, go on a visa run overnight and return to begin the next 60 days

5) Before the 60 days is up, pay B1900 for another 30 days

6) Before the 30 days ends, go some place like the Philipines and stay until a new double entry permit is given

7) Go through steps 2-6 again

8) Before the last 30-day extension is over fly back to the USA

So, questions:

A) Is the above the correct theory?

:) If it is, what are the odds it will work?

C) Each time I enter, don't they want to see proof that I have outbound tickets that are dated before the 60-days would be up?

D) What if I want to leave the country in between?

E) What if I want to stay longer?

F) What do I do if I can't get back in at one of those points and have a lease as well as my posessions in the flat?

THANKS!

2. Write the visa information on your arrival card before giving it to Immigration.

4. Only a border crossing/return is required.

6. Bad choice as likely the least likely to issue a two entry tourist visa in the area.

7. Be sure second use is before the visa expires (likely only 90 days to use).

C. Entry on visa does not require onward travel tickets.

D. Obtain re-entry permit to keep current stay alive or use next entry or obtain new visa.

E. Another visa.

F. You would receive warning before that happens unless arrested/deported for a crime.

So, it sounds like re entering over and over is not a problem. I see the info on re-entry permits and that looks airly simple

As to 6. = Where would you suggest?
