Lannatyne Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Three amazing service experiences with Phuket government offices in the last 5 days. 1) My wife helped a foreign friend obtain a blue house book for his near-completed home. The usufruct, superficies and building permissions were all in his sole name. From first meeting with the village headman, to going through to the registration office in Phuket City, it took 3 hours before our friend walked away with a blue book in his palm. Total cost : 12 baht. 10 baht for the plastic wallet for the book, and 2 baht for a copy of her ID card. 2) Nai Harn lake park, Sunday 5pm. Both wife and I are walking around the park, and we comment on how horrible it is that people have just left their plastic food bags and polystyrene boxes lying around. There are plenty of bins at the entrance to the park. Suddenly, we see a young Thai boy and his mum going around picking up this mess. Then, some of the foodstall vendors join in the clean-up. My wife finds out that the food vendors do ask customers to dispose of rubbish properly, but since few of them 'bother' to do so, the vendors clear up at the end of the day. Reason : Rawai OrBorTor threaten to withdraw their vending licences if the place is left untidy. 3) "Somewhere in Phuket". My wife telephones the local OrBorTor about a drainage issue on our boundary, that could possibly escalate into a 'neighbourly dispute'. 10 minutes later, officials arrive in a car. They inspect the area, inform the landowner, and leave. We get a call to inform us of what was done, how they'll monitor the situation, and what to do if the issue persists. Start to finish, about 1 hour. Thought it was only fair that I share these "success stories" with you. As a general rule, I'm not ecstatic about living here due to the the many obstacles and hassles we endure. However, if this is the thin end of a wedge of improvement, then I may just begin to get less stressed about life!
HDRIDER Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Hi Number 2 I would be more than happy to see them empty my garbage bin that i pay for every year, have a look around Soi Kokyang, they are all full most of the time, and it dont help to say anything.
