Astro V'S True Visions Satelite

the main problem I have with TRUE is the irritating censureship.

when smoking or drinking etc, let alone nud_e scenes, it spoils the film!!

does Astro do the same??

I've not seen that censorship on Astro... although I don't have the movie channels.... but my guess would not. You see smoking etc on Granada channel & the Aussie Network .... They do beep out the odd swear word! They do have Malay subtitles on some programs.... which don't bother me...

To dispel the myth about channels fading out with a cloud in the sky is not true... Here on Samui, at least..... Except for the HD Channels... Only during really hard rain do some of the other channels go out.... music & FM stations out of KL don't seem to fade at all... We've had a good test of that lately....

Better quality all round, (picture & sound) but initially costs more, but if you looking over 3 years you will save money.... The local company I used did make one service call, to slightly adjust the satellite, at no charge (promptly too)....smile.gif

One of the True Visions shops has both set up to compare, perhaps about 1 km toward Lamai from Tesco,(Chawang.....Tesco side) but their set cost is more... PM me for a contact that can get a better price, if interested (no I am not on commission! biggrin.gif)

Enlighten me.

Astro is the brand name of the Malaysian direct broadcast satellite (DBS) pay television service. It transmits digital satellite television and radio to households in Malaysia & Brunei. The name Astro is an acronym for All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator.

Astro is owned and operated by MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro All Asia Networks plc. Astro was de-listed from the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 14 June 2010, following a successful take-over offer by Astro Holdings Sdn Bhd, a company owned by Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd/its affiliates, and Khazanah Nasional Berhad. It has operations at All Asia Broadcast Centre located in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Measat in Cyberjaya.

In addition to serving consumers in households, Astro has substantial coverage in commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants, hotels, dorms, and hospitals. Since 2008, the Astro has been offering a video streaming service to mobile phone users throughout the country (Astro Mobile TV).

All I know is discussion of getting true via dream box & paying 300 baht a month or whatever is an illegal system & thus not to be discussed here.
