Bringing Bike To Bangkok

Featured Replies

soon moving to BKK and want to bring my bike from Phuket... (airblade) it has just been newly registered here in my name... what do i have to do to bring it into BKK ? besides find a transporter..

stick it on a train or hire a pick up and take it to where you want to go.no need to do anything it is registered in thailand

You can probably get it on a public bus also if you want to try; much cheaper than a tranporter, small pickup type vehicle.

I was in Sangklaburi a few months back and my travelling friend had a spill. The cost to get the bike back to K'buri on a small pickup was B3000, and the public bus, which has a freight section in the rear cabin, was B250. Big difference. The problem was that he had to travel in the bus, 5+ hours.

No need to find a transporter...just wrap it in plastik and bring to the nearest post office and then sendit to bangkok. They will do the packing also if you dont want to bother yourself.

Its around 2500 baht and you will have to pick it up by yourself from a bangkok post office of your choice!

Hi,

The relocation using Thai Post is teh best and most efficient way to do it, cheaper too unless you want to ride it all the way.

As for registration. The Bangkok authorities are somewhat less forgiving than the outer reaches when it comes ot registering bikes to farang (in my personal experience) Alos since all vehicular registratuion is now computerized nationwide there is no need to re-register unless you really want to. You should though check with your insurance company that they are happy about it. Having a provincial registration sometimes helps with the B.I.B. too if they see that you're from 'out of town'

Good luck
