New Bicycle Shop -Chaweng

Featured Replies

Noticed a new bicyle shop, 'Samui Bike Cafe' has opened in Chaweng opposite what used to be Mecure, by Lakeview. New, top quality (Trek, Mongoose, SE, GT, Schwinn etc) bikes and parts...service and maintenance too.

Helmets too...

I offer this as info since I can recall this subject coming up on a regular basis and the shop's definitely worth a look in, prices reasonable too.

Had a short chat with the owner. His name is John (Thai) speaks English fluently -and has a real passion for bikes.

TREK???? :w00t:

Thanks for posting. Seems to be an increasingly popular sport. Plenty of serious looking riders around, together with the not too serious looking one too. B)

Yeah, i didn't want to overboard and plug the shop on the board, but I was very pleasantly surprised at what they had available and the staff's friendliness...also, the guy's dad owns the land the shop's on so he's looking at long term...whether he gets people through the door or not...think maybe he had to show his old man that he could make a business out of his hobby...a real good find...with some really fine toys!

hmm , that will explain the millions of Koreans and Chinese cycling up and down that road on there Blue Bikes and Baskets on the front ....

Someone has to ask. :whistling: Erm, what's one of those? Does it tell you that the hill is bl##dy steep and that your legs hurt?

What's a bike computer ?

It navigates you through all the Sois & tells you how close you are to moving targets, dogs pedestrians etc....

Ok , I think they measure distance& probably exertion level, calories burnt.

Google 'Garmin' for a bike computer, they also make running computers or simply click the link for sports computers. They're the biggest in sports but there are others out there.

Do they sell electric bikes as well?

Yes, But they only come with 20 meter electric cables. :whistling::lol:

That's Ok I don't want to go too far. :)

It counts how many times you turn the peddles. I lose count around 3 or 4... :D

What's wrong with Trek? Last I knew Trek sold a pretty wide range of bikes, ranging from entry level bikes and city bikes to things being ridden in the TDF.

What are his prices like, compared to either the UK, or USA, or indeed otehr places in Thailand for bikes?

I might invest in a decent mountain bike actually, I definitely need something to keep me fit.

Also, if anyone goes in there soon, can you see if he has any good quality locks for bikes, as I'll be riding mine around the bars etc, so will need to keep it safe.

Is this shop still trading? Does anyone have a contact email address for them. Cheers

There is another bicycle shop opposite Samui Town Centre on the ring road, heaps of brand name bikes. Building made out of shipping containers.
